The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Christmas Eve has dawned and the sun has set, your boy is another year older. More gray hairs in the beard and a few other places, there MIGHT be a stray one on my head but for the most part the mane is still dark brown, I'm sure they are coming but I have a few years left. Of course I hit the routine which will be discussed after the jump, and I came back to have Cheese Steaks, Cake, and ice cream (mint chocolate chip if ya please), if was a mildly chilly day started out gloomy and in the 40's dropped to the mid 30's later on. Another year another non white Christmas. Granted it isn't like I am a HUGE SNOW FAN, I'll play in it if it's available but I don't like the cold(But your born in December, what does that have to do with LIKING cold weather hmmmm). Anyway enough stalling
For those who don't know the "Routine" is hitting Starbucks to use my birthday reward, I mean who turns down free coffee? There is a birthday reward, I qualify for it, and there is almost always a Starbucks in the area I am going to be traveling too so bully.

Then it is off to Mall walk and then find a slice of pizza, this year I decided to give Southaven a chance... Bad choice. Not because I don't like Southaven complete opposite. It's just they have a bunch of strip malls, which defeats the purpose because I can't walk store to store... Oh, maybe I should back up. With my birthday being on Christmas Eve MOST people are finishing up their last minute Christmas shopping so that while TECHNICALLY today is my day for most of the world it is EVERYBODY'S day, especially the kiddos. So since I can't be selfish and be like me, me, me I enjoy the fact that today is a day when everyone is HOPEFULLY thinking about others and enjoying a great time, getting ready to see family. Anyway the strip mall doesn't work because you can't see a mix of people bustling around going from store to store, laughing and smiling talking about the deals they got, or the smiles they are about to see, or the gift they missed. Then I went to the Tanger outlets on Church road to get some eye hustling in, I say eye hustling because as usual I got into a shoe store and my big feet ain welcome. This Size 13 hate has got to go, no this is not me trying to brag about my shoe size having feet larger than 12 really is a pain. Finding not only suitable but ATTRACTIVE footwear is not easy. Nobody wants to rock the "WHAT ARE THOOOOOOOSE" 250 B.C.'s to make matters worse as I was walking around one store they didn't have a lot of 13's I would buy(WAT's seriously I'm not a fashion plate but I ain trying to wear no ugmos either) but they had 15's and 16's DUDE, why? That almost feels personal you skipped a whole 2 sizes, did I talk bad about your mama? Did I cut you off in traffic? Did I shoot you down in a video game, what the HELL?

So as I continue the search for a mall and pizza I check the time, Meh let's hit the Galleria, the food court, and get some quick shopping in. As I bought Christmas presents I will not reveal them here, suffice it to say I am the AWESOME UNCLE a title I do not plan to relinquish anytime soon. I got a slice of cheese and a slice of sausage pepperoni, and a Mango tea(cherry syrup wasn't an option and the flavor additives did not lend themselves to Cola). Walked around the mall, saw kids getting there last minute pics with Santa, people smiling and laughing, and joy all around. I also saw some craziness in one store as a store employee(didn't see a manager badge so I don't know who she was) attempt to kick some potential patrons out the store. Everybody was making a scene and it's Christmas, while I might want to know WHY I am getting kicked out a store, if you telling me get out I am getting out and keeping my money out your register. But that is just me. I enjoyed a nice deal which may have been the "day before Christmas just have exact change, take your stuff and get out my hair" Discount and I then started heading towards the house.

In case you are wondering no I did not buy any type of sweets while out, not really my thing during the day, I know cake is coming and I plan to enjoy is so why get hopped up on sugar. On the way back I stopped by another store, picked up a couple more gifts, and then headed home. Which of course was the wait for the eventual cake and ice cream, where my Nephew was so bright eyed and ready for cake. Like, it may be my birthday but I swear he had the most fun. It is what it is and was what it was, but I had a good time. And as it is Dark outside,

Twas the night before Christmas
and poured into my cup
2 shots of Jack Daniels to warm me right up

You don't really think I am going to do the whole poem do you? Maybe next year, But Merry Christmas to all and to all a great night. And if you have kids, remind them that ANY Sibling over the age of 15 is legally allowed to witness the present opening if you hard working parents wish to get a few more hours of shut eye, IJS.
