I'm scanning injury reports, I'm constantly on the Eagles website trying to catch the next little tidbit of news, video, commentary. To say that I have a jones is an understatement I have loved football for the entirety of my life, and since I first learned how to sit up straight have watched the Philadelphia Eagles play football. Unlike others I had no doubts that we would have football this season too much money in it and unlike basketball, where people have become tired of all the sideshow antics both on the court and in the owners box, there is too much outside pressure from people in states who take their football seriously. If Roger Goodell let this lockout remain on too long I guarantee you there were a few states that he would have been persona non grata in most of the states who have pro football have a deep passion for it. Regardless to if you have a Lombardi trophy sitting in the case or not we go out in 0 degree or lower weather, rain, sleet, hail if you don't cancel the game(and if you do we will have some choice words for you) we will be there.
I know that my teams Offensive line is in flux, I won't lie and say it doesn't worry me than again speed kills and all we have is speed on the offensive side of the ball. I am waiting for a big announcement that Djax has gotten a new contract, I know we had better sign him and soon. I understand that football is a business but personally while we lost the older loudmouth wide receiver to Jerry Jones and his Blue Star we damn sure better not use the young, electrifying one. I will spare my giant fan readers the video(no it isn't saved on my desktop yes I have watched it a few times on youtube), but Desean Jackson in the open field is a coaches worst nightmare I watched some highlights of him in college, because I was bored and there are no 2011 highlights yet, and to see that he's always done that to DB's and punt teams is just wow. Yes I am still chomping at the bit to see Dion Lewis in a game situation, the kid just tears up the field and looks so illusive. I heard that Jeremy Maclin is going full speed and that possibly Steve Smith will play too, I will not lie and say that Jason Avant is another speedster but hey sometimes you just need a possession receiver and he's it.
We also picked up Ronnie Brown to spell Shady Mccoy in the backfield which means Shady can rest up on some of those tougher situations where they just need to grind for yardage. I haven't even spoken about the defense, yes the Pittsburgh game was bad, whatever we were trying I hope is no so far buried in the playbook that it is never again tried. So far from what I have seen the wide 9 is interesting giving so much space up around the middle but since we have seen a lot of sacks in the preseason I am hoping to see it work well in the regular season. Yes I know we are playing and up and coming team, we used to be an up and coming team the fact that we have now changed quarterbacks twice and are still seen as making the playoffs and possibly contending for the Super Bowl is a testament to Andy Reid's coaching style. I still want a Lombardy in the case though I mean I love the fact that we have pretty much had a winning season every year he has been here, but in football while you may have had a nice season, only one team has a great one the person who lifts the trophy.
It's been a while since we have had a front four like this one, and the fact that everybody is so focused. This should be a great season(granted I am biased and ever season should be a great season and we should win every game) even with a new defensive coordinator in Juan Castillo I can't wait to see our guys pin their ears back and just go after the quarterback. I feel sorry for Sam Bradford, this could be one of those long games you hear about for some QB's, he has 3 pro bowl corners to deal with, some decent safeties and some young linebackers. And while they are young so is everybody when they first start out, some excuses are silly, Urlacher was young once too and well looks to me like he had a damn good career. People forget ALL football players were rookies once, and while we hope every year to find the special rookie just because you weren't picked in the first round doesn't make you some lousy player. People slip for different reasons and you never know who is going to be that next great player.
All I know is I hate not being able to watch football that counts once the season starts, I'm an NFL network junkie and due to the lock out I really couldn't feel out my team. No footage of OTA's, no spring camps, and definitely no time for rookies to get worked into the system better. It was a whole lot of flux in a short amount of time, we made free agent splashes but did we really get everybody close enough to the same page to spring board through the first few games. Okay enough going nuts, I know a lot of my fellow out of town fans love the internet age, can I tell you streaming video is great when you want to keep up with Roster moves and player transactions. It's football season let's get it on.
This is my more mature blog. By mature I mean I'm going to follow some rules and I'm going to try and do more then take the easy way out. No cursing I gotta find a different way to say it and still emphatically get my point across
