I think we can all agree, the third movie is always the worst

This tongue in cheek exchange between Scott Summers and Jubilation Lee(yes, I know her ACTUAL full name, not just what they call her. Granted as she is a vampire now I may mumble it under my breath minus Blade's gear) as they walk out of Return of the Jedi may prove to be a bridge to far. It's meant as a shot at X-men: The Last stand, but if these box office numbers hold it may also apply to the THIRD in the period X-men movies. From the initial "Not a reboot" of the X-men movies they have been taking a story arc/graphic novel from famous X-men lore using it as the movies title and then warping the Teams, story lines, and driving forces to try and tell more cohesive and compelling X-men stories. In X-men first class, we were introduced to The Hellfire Club, Emma Frost, and Sebastian Shaw. Well technically RE-introduced to Ms. Frost because for WHATEVER reason she as a young girl was in X-men Origins:Wolverine, with her Diamond powers instead of her telepathy, because:to hell with continuity. First Class took place during the 60's and the Cuban Missile crisis, with Charles Xavier, Eric Lenshurr, and Raven Darkholm amassing a team of potential young mutant hopefuls trying to learn how to use their powers, and Stop Sebastion Shaw from ushering in WW3.

In X-men Days of Future Past we are shown a Dystopian future where due to a decision made by Mystique in the past, all mutants are damn near exterminated. This one is the CLOSEST parallel to the comics, and also the best received. As we all know MOST marvel stories are huge crossovers which basically have characters bumping into each other, causes chaos that someone else has to clean up, read about, or at least be inconvenienced by every day or so. The funny thing is, Fox actually owns the rights to Fantastic Four and COULD have done a more faithful adaptation, but the one they did is fine. Yes they send Wolverine Back instead of Kat(no longer Kitty) Pride, and there is no Rachel Summers, but since Wolverine is as old as dirt it's not a bad idea to use him for your period movie as the Time traveler PLUS it gives you a look into who Logan was while he was staying as far away from other mutants.

And now we have Apocalypse

It's a few days late

As the trailer blog came through on Sunday I guess its to be expected that everything else would be late. Excuses i could make plenty, Memorial day weekend, trying to hit  2nd prestige in Call of Duty:Black Ops III, manning the grill Monday, or even just enjoying the long weekend. All of which are things that I did, but it's done now so *happy dance happy dance*.  One of the issues is that since I was on a blogging hiatus when First Class and Days of Future Past came out I couldn't compare the Movies to the story arcs/graphic novels the titles came from. So of course mentally I tried to do that first so I had to revamp that blog, then I had just spent like an hour an a half writing out that one so after editing it and deciding to break that thought process into 3 pieces. I had to go back and write a review for JUST Apocalypse not the entire soft reboot.

So yeah, I finished it up last night so it will pop sometime this afternoon because meh why the hell not. Also June 6th is almost upon on so it's "Spoiler Review" time, that will probably be on the press. Mainly because I do want to gush about how great a movie civil war was and not have to watch my language. So as always thanks for stopping by, reading, and enjoying my random offerings, pull up a chair, have a cuppa, and gone ahead and speak up, I d't bite much.

The Trailers for X-men: Apocalypse

It was a weekend of a major movie premier so me and HALF of my siblings went, somebody had a baby to watch. Oh well. Now while TWO movies came out Friday night but I only went to one(and as Ninja Turtles comes out next week the other May 27 movies may have to wait til video), and while I don't think I ever owned the T-shirt you know I always Make Mine Marvel. So I went to go see another "new continuity" X-men movie, as you may have heard these seem to be period pieces now. First Class was the 60's, Days was the 70's, and Apocalypse takes place in the 80's.

BUUUUUT before every movie you get trailers to tell you what movie you SHOULD be coming to see in the next few months so that the theaters and Hollywood need them duckets. X-men Apocalypse had 5 trailers, some I had seen Elsewhere, one Marvel Trailer, and a few I had already seen. I know I am a day late with this(I usually do it the day of, but I was really close to prestige 2 on CoD so ahem yeah I did that) but without further ado here we go

Let the games begin

Eikichi has finally seen Civil War, which means we can now talk about it AND just like most people who left the theater, his face showed just how much the MCU is now changed. This was a war for the hearts and minds of the Marvel Cinematic fandom, and honestly nobody won. You watched it, you felt it, and you walked out scarred. There was no victory won in this movie, this was kind of like that "set up comic" you know where the hero is left licking his wounds trying to figure out exactly how bad he underestimated the villain.

I'm not going to say it's goblin throwing Gwen Stacy off the bridge diabolical, especially since this was more fortuitous and opportune but it was still the perfect set up. The dust settles and then the tornado comes in, and not just a dust devil, no an F5. To hell with the house, the foundation, the block, the whole city may be gone when it's all done. And the why, the why is even sympathetic. Nobody has clean hands on this one, not because people didn't try but because nobody is truly perfect and sorrow and suffering can take many forms. One man's grief resolution can be another man's vengeance, spite, or execution. Revenge is a dish best served cold and fire, microwaves, gas or electric ovens have ALL disappeared inn this one. It was hard not spoiling this for Eikichi, you wanted to tell him about it and yet you didn't want to prep him too much. Because you needed to take all these body shots, yes the chin shot was coming but those body shots were meant to build character maybe you were knocked out maybe you weren't but you learn something about yourself after all those body shots. Even that slight twist of fate, the person who wanted to drive in the knife and twist it changed NOT because two peoples mother's had the same name, no because as disrespectful as it sounds the original knife holder was a NOBODY, it wouldn't have mattered at all. No it would have been okay, but it would have been a cheap trick, unsatisfying, unredeemable, but no when that knife is grabbed from the table you completely understand it and you might even cheer for him, forgiveness at the ready.

I have a dream, I want to see an Empire Fall

This is the year of the comic book movie, We are 3 down and we have 3 more to go(if you count Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, who started out in a Graphic Novel). We have already gotten 3 movies from two of the biggest names in Comics, Two from Marvel and one from DC and this review is about the latest offering from Marvel:

Captain America:Civil War

The latest Captain America sequel is based on a comic book ark by the same name "Civil War" and for the most part follows a SIMILAR path. In the comics a villain named Nitro decided to explode next to an elementary school in Stamford Connecticut while in a "reality TV"style fight with the New Warriors. In the Marvel universe super heroes basically grow on trees, and it isn't exactly cheap so when one of the lesser known groups decides that they need an "edge" they decide to crime fight for the TV,(just like cops) bring along a camera crew, and duke it out for ratings. Unfortunately, thanks to Nitro, it becomes such a focal point that most of the new warriors as well as the villains who were with Nitro die(except for Speedball who's powers saved him) plus a bunch of innocent civilians including that elementary school full of children. In the Comics Tony Stark was ORIGINALLY in Washington DC to try and delay the Super Hero Registration Act, but seeing the horror of the explosion as well as a few angry parents who shoved pictures of dead children into his face causes his resolve to falter. It splits the super hero world in the Marvel Universe asunder, some heroes side with Iron Man as Pro Registration feeling that with some proper training, government backing for insurance purposes, and accountability while they couldn't prevent every disaster people would at least know who they were and realize that they were just regular people. Captain America on the other hand felt it was too risky, all those heroes who fought so hard to protect the public only to now have to worry about protecting their families. If you had a secret identity(which Technically Captain America doesn't everyone knows that Cap is Steve Rogers) it was for a good reason and NO ONE should be allowed to usurp that reason. While there were Many Avengers who sided with Iron Man the ULTIMATE tipping point in the comics was Tony Stark convincing Spider-man to unmask. In a Press conference Peter Parker reveals that he had been Spider-man since he was 15 years old, and that while he always tried his best he understood that his wearing a mask sometimes sent the wrong message.

It's a really good story ark and worth a read, but while there are PLENTY of similarities with the comic story Captain America Civil War is a beast all it's own. For a few reasons, one unlike in the comics where Marvel owns the rights to ALL of it's characters, in the movies they currently own HALF(thought with the deal with Sony and rumors of a possible deal with fox that HALF may become all) which still gives them a lot of leeway but they've only been making movies in the MCU for about 10 years so they really haven't had time to build up a 100 hero plus roster. Plus unlike a comic book or comic books movies have to be around 2 1/2 to 3 hours, and you really can't just pick it up and come back next month for the next segment. So without further ado

The Trailers for Captain America:Civil War

On this fine Friday evening we got 5 trailers, from all over the spectrum of movie delights. Some remakes, some new offerings, some sequels but all before Captain America:Civil War. Most of these trailers I have seen on youtube so I will dig them up for you and as always give my thoughts as to whether or not I think the movies will be worth seeing and if the trailers intrigued me at all.

In case you ever wonder I put them in order of appearance, not worst to best, favorite to least favorite or vice versa. How ever they came at me while I was in my seat is how I give them to you. So without anymore stalling(because at this point it really is becoming stalling), your movie trailers:

After the shortest post ever

Yup Tonight was Movie night, the reason the previous post is so short simply is the battery on my phone was dieing. So I clicked out a few quick words, threw some labels on it and BOOM posted it before the phone shut off on me. So yeah due to circumstances beyond anyone's control it was two not four enjoying civil war tonight, what can I say flat tires suck Donkey Balls. SO yeah Eikichi missed out, which means I have to be on a 24 hour hold about talking with him about the movie, afro is a great movie buddy but he kind of likes to enjoy the movie and then move on to something else.

So yes, a trailer blog will be popping up shortly. Sometime Sunday evening or Monday morning the review blog will be hitting your screens and after that who knows I may go see it again as well as do a month later full of spoilers. I haven't decided yet, I just know that I am in a great mood. Marvel just knocked another one out of the park and one of my favorite comic book characters stole the show, like he is supposed to. By the way, IF you are going to see Civil War STAY TIL THE VERY END. Yes it's cheesy but it is so worth it

About to enjoy the War

It's not a perfect movie night, it's seems Eikichi got a flat tire and won't make it. Sucks but me and Afro are in the theater I have my civil war cup, my hot dog and my blue and red slush.

It's here, it's here(5/4/11)

Summer movie season has finally arrived(though Fast Five, review to come later, has already jumped out to a first weekend box office hit) and this weekend I'll be damned if the best comic company in the world(Marvel Comics, I'm a Marvel Maniac admitted it a million times DC homers suck it)  doesn't have the first official offering of the season.

Now yes I know summer doesn't start for a few more months but basically May is when kids start to get out of school, so from May til September Studios put out there(HOPEFULLY) creme de la creme, the best they have to offer in hopes of sucking up date, allowance and chore money from teens and young adults with plenty of spare time on their hands. I mean yes they love holidays, but a holiday weekend might give you 3 or 4 days with kids with free time, summer that's everyday. Friday's offering is Thor, one of Marvel's big characters yes I know he is from Viking Mythology but The Mighty Thor has been running since before I was born, and we all know the name of his mighty hammer Mjolnir(but not how to properly say it until much much later) because of Marvel. I'm hoping this is a big summer not only are new characters gracing the silver screen for everybody(marvel is sending forth Thor and Captain America, DC is putting the Green Lantern on patrol) we're also seeing directors use some of that good will they got by making previous blockbusters to bring pet projects to life(Jon Favreau's Cowboys and Aliens). Of course the end of the Harry Potter series of movies is coming this summer, another Transformers, the guys from the Hangover are coming back, as well as a certain fuzzy panda, Pixar even has a new cars on deck(Screw cars where's the Incredibles 2 I wanna see Jack Jack kick butt) in other words if you have a DIME in your pocket the movie theater is out to get your butt in their comfy stadium seats.

I really am going to try to get to the movies every week this summer to catch all the new offerings. Thor looks good(even if we made fun of how the costumes looked at first), Captain America looks like it could be good but as I'm in my 30's forgive my skepticism Steve but I've had to grab the hurl bucket many a time for what they put out with you name on it. Transformers I am going to watch even if at the end of the released trailer it looks like they just let Prime be evil. How you kicking but all trailer long and in the last 8 seconds you get decimated, just a red and blue flash of decepticon butt kickery. Of course Cowboys & Aliens is on my list I get James Bond and Indiana Jones in the same movie, it's a 90's wett dream come true I mean no it's not Sean Connery but Daniel Craig has done a good job as 007 and well Harrison Ford is Harrison Ford. There are a couple of not so well known projects that I am thinking of seeing too Lank wants to see Real Steel

This one definitely needed a little editing, but as we are almost to summer movie season again and the movies mentioned here have risen or fallen, I figure why not. By the time this posts I will have seen Batman v Superman, Civil War will be on it's way, and oh yeah DEADPOOL was already awesome. I swear if I could have only told me then that this day was coming. That Barrakapool would not be the end of our favorite Merc, that Ryan Reynolds would rise from the ashes of a failed Green Lantern movie to create Super hero movie GOLD.

The problems with Batman v Superman part 2

I have this thing about blog posts getting too long on a single page. I know I talk alot, I have a lot of theories, ideas, and points I want to make in some posts. As such I don't want you scrolling forever, in wordpress I would just add a nice little < !--nextpage-- > tag and boom keep on going, since I can't do that in blogger I try and break it up once I feel it gets too long. So let's get right back to:

Motivations Continued

I really don't think Wonder Woman would care about a picture of her. And again A picture of her can't be more important than THE ENTIRE WORLD BEING DESTROYED. So if it didn't phase her in Man of Steel, why does she care about Doomsday in Batman v Superman? She already chastised Bruce Wayne about boys not liking to play with others, why wouldn't she have stopped them from fighting? And if she is already in Gotham why didn't she talk to Wayne about his Bat Vigilantism if it was so easy to figure out, he was apparently a huge bully, and was possibly dangerous to the world for the last 20 years. I mean seriously, if it wasn't for his strict moral code people could easily see Batman becoming a totalitarian and a force who needs to be stopped.

The court room full of people trying to get Superman to explain why it is a bunch of people in Africa got shot has to be the dumbest thing in the history of the world. Seriously, the guy has lazer eyes, the strength to hold up or tear apart buildings, can fly into space, hit Mach "OMG how did he get across the world so quick just because he heard you threaten Lois from Metropolis", and run faster than a speeding bullet, nobody is dumb enough to think he went around shooting people. And by the way the court room scene, hes Superman he would have just flown the bomb out of the room. I don't care if he scanned for it, he's Superman, as it started to explode he would have flown it out of the building and drew all of the flames and force with him because Back Draft. No really, even if you tell me that he DIDN'T scan the room for any type of incident just because he showed up, people have been dieing in places that he goes, and well I'm invulnerable because nothing (That I know of) can hurt me, that doesn't explain why as the bomb is exploding he doesn't try to clear people out of the courtroom, remove the bomb from the courtroom, or as he hears the actuator trip do SOMETHING,

The problems of Batman v Superman

Okay, it's been a month. If you WANTED to see Batman v Superman you already have, if you haven't spoilers mean nothing to you, and on top of that enough people have ranted about this movie on youtube, tumblr, and various other social media outlets that mean going off on it here won't be a shocker. This isn't wordpress so I will keep the expletives out of it, but yes there will be an expletive filled one later. Now, the disclaimers:

  1. I am a Die Hard Marvel fan
  2. I wasn't fond of Man of Steel
  3. While I have read a decent amount of the New 52, I thought it was short sighted
  4. I actually know where Metropolis and Gotham are located
  5. I have read most of Wonder Woman's origin stories
  6. I know how bad guys in comics and movies act
And yes 4,5, and 6 are important because they are part of the biggest problems with this movie, because it seemed like for whatever reason to give us those BEAUTIFUL visuals Zack Snyder ignored so much about the DCU. Now I know that DC is about to do another reboot titled "rebirth" I will read them when it starts, but I would hope that they won't base it on whatever Zack Snyder's DC universe is because NO! I'm not saying that this is the Last Airbender, Dragonball evolution, or even Bloodrayne (I'm not honestly). I am saying that what this movie and Man of Steel did with the source material and the characters is shameful because I wouldn't look up to these characters, I wouldn't be inspired by these characters. Enough dawdling lets get to it

Deadpool, the Misunderstood Game Changer

This post came to me while I was riding in the car earlier, Now that Deadpool is on it's way to becoming the second highest grossing comic book origin story ever I think it is time to look at the lessons that SHOULD be learned, vs the lessons that are probably going to be learned. I say this hoping that I am wrong, because with what we got out of Deadpool and how long it took for us to get it, as well as the colossal risks that were taken to get it to us I am extremely happy with the end results. 700 million dollars for what many thought was an unknown, niche, too small for the big screen character "stick that in your pipe and smoke it." The funny thing is, the reason why Deadpool was thought to be dead in the water and a bum character was the very reason why we were so ravenous for the character to get a stand alone movie: X-men Origins Wolverine. In casting Ryan Reynolds to play Wade Wilson Fox gave us everything we never knew we wanted. I mean it had been a running joke for a while(there is a famous comic panel where Deadpool says "I look like Ryan Reynolds crossed with a Sharpe'), as well as if you look at most of Ryan Reynolds roles he plays a charismatic, cocky, roguish imp, who has way to much fun with his fellow on screen participants and sometimes the audience and it was a match in heaven, and then Fox sewed Deadpoo... I'm sorry Barrackapool's mouth shut for the final giant fight scene.

Seriously, talk about tone deaf. Fox decided that the best way to give comic book fans the MERC WITH THE MOUTH was without his free wheeling swords, or his guns, or his FREAKING MOUTH, walk with me here kiddies. Deadpool is known to run verbal harassment circles around his victims, enemies, fellow combatants, and the fourth wall so in a stroke of GENIUS Fox studios decided that not only did we NOT want the costume, but we didn't want to hear Deadpool talk either.

Why Amazing Spider-man 2 failed

Talking to my friend BeLauriette earlier about all this amazingly painful "BvS Rants" that we stumbled upon yesterday got us to talking about comic book movies, reboots, and the myriad reasons why people think some of these movies succeeded or failed. And in the conversation we got to one of my favorite comic book characters Spider-man and the back story of how Spider-man went from just Spidey, to being Amazing. Let's be clear, I actually liked Amazing Spider-man 2. They got the characterizations of almost everyone used perfect, but it failed and it forced Sony to turn make a deal with Marvel to share the web head's rights but for a movie franchise that has made so many billions of dollars I think we all agree that Sony was forced into that decision. The question is why. And the answer is quite simple, impatience.

Spider-man 3 came out, and it was going to be Sam Raimi's last movie with the Spider-man cast. He had a good run, had a multi billion dollar franchise under his belt and COULD have rode off into the sunset not unlike Christopher Nolan when Dark Knight Rises rolled the closing credits. The problem is Raimi didn't want to leave, Spider-man was his baby and he wanted to stay on board. So he did the most petty thing in movie history, he killed off not only a good future villain, but the next potential franchise inn the same movie. I am a Spider-man fan with over 35+ years under my belt(yes I fully admit to owning Spidey PJ's and Underoos), I have seen MANY iterations of the wall crawler, his villains, and many art styles. I have seen him animated many different ways, Saw Tom Hammond don those awful tights, and even watched a few live performance versions of Spidey at the mall.

And just when it looks like a dull and dreary day(11/29/10)Throwback Thursday

The sky opens up and says "whatcha got for me". And it was an off and on rain, one of those "I've stopped whoops nope caught you out in the middle of the street with no umbrella" type showers that get you sick.

I got wrapped up in work so I really couldn't do this blog like I wanted to earlier. It was just one of those days, starts out slow and I'm not doing anything ends in a rush. We're just leaving the smoke shop now, so its a late night for me, no I'm not fond of late nights because I still get stuck with early mornings. Blows Donkey balls, but hey I'm grown I gotta do what I gotta do.

Still a wet night luckily its monday not friday not in a movie mood so I won't get soaked. I can take the caddy to wally word later for wifey so that her playonline is okay. I want to get into Final Fantasy XIV but I'd need a new PC. Desktop laptop don't matter, either way I want something THIS generation PC wise. Call me a gaming snob, but why be on the sucky computer if you don't have to be?

But that's something far off, I know I started rambling but hey I said from the start I'm rambly. So its not like I didn't warn you, and from my bounce rate I see many of you have decided to jump off quickly, whoops this guy is a loon let me get up out of here. (I mean some of yall bug out in less than 10 seconds that's a miracle, I never leave without reading a page or two unless its a gay/femdom porn site then its "aw hell naw" *click*)

For those who have stay around and enjoy my craziness thank you from the bottom of my heart 700 hits last month and damn near 2000 over. Google analytics may not count all of you but if you are here you are welcome(until you piss me off)
Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile
Holy Crap!, that says sent via BlackBerry. No seriously a BLACKBERRY. I remember when me and Blackberry's were inseperable, Hell I still have two sitting here from way way back. I buy a new phone every two years, why?  Because I really don't see the need for a new one every year, they really don't change that much in a year. The camera isn't that much better, the internal hard drive isn't that much bigger, the processor is barely any faster, and now that everybody has agreed on the perfect screen size that ain even much bigger anymore. I am currently team Samsung, and whenever the note 6 drops that will be my new phone, it will be my 5th Samsung phone(my work phones are also Samsung before somebody starts doing the math and going "Hey!!!!!!"). But wow yeah I wrote this on a Blackberry, this definitely screams throwback

First controlled flame day of the year

Well for me anyway, today was BBQ day, no special reason other than it got nice around 12 o'clock. Cleaned the grill last night, ate breakfast, gave it another once over and then SMOKED MEATS. Yes yes, there is nothing quite like the relationship between man and grill. I guess if I'm talking about it I better show it huh

Gold vs Plus

As most of you know I am a gamer, I may TALK about gaming casually but I go back to the 2600. I'm to gaming as most millennials are to smart phones, I saw the slow progress that was I mean to be fair at the time awesome but now is like, "wow I payed for that crap" to the constant *fireworks fireworks* and the *majestic horns* triple A releases, the independent releases and some of the overhyped stuff. As most of you heard in the Atari days it is thanks to Nintendo that we have these type of rankings. Back in the day Atari just let you make games for their system, they didn't really rate the titles so you might think you Atari sucked if you parents(honestly though lets not JUST blame the parents, some of us went to the story with 20 bucks worth of paper, grass cutting, leaf raking money and wanted the most bang for our buck too) found the "grab box" and just grabbed you a handful of cheap games to go with your system. Nintendo invented the "official seal" which meant that somebody at Nintendo reviewed the games, decided if they were up to Nintendo's quality requirements and then let them be released. And because of that it became a theme, third party games and peripherals still existed(because when it became hard to just make crap software folks went to making crappy hardware) but if the system you were playing with didn't seem to make it an OFFICIAL PERIPHERAL/SOFTWARE RELEASE you steered away unless you just liked burning money.

How is this like phones some of you youngins might be asking, remember how back in the day nobody sold crap for Apple but the apple store or major retailers with the Apple seal on it? Yeah same thing, logitech and everybody else makes stuff for Apple now, they just know what level of quality they have to put into it. Yes you can still find cheap junk, but you fully understand it is cheap junk and admit that you may just be lighting your money on fire. Back to gaming, does that mean "cheap games" disappeared, no. I mean if you wait long enough even triple A games get slashed to under 30 bucks, or if they turn out to be bombs 25 or less but now we have a different method to delivering games:Digitally. When most gaming companies say digital what they means is you download it, no physical copy just whatever is on you gaming machine. Be it a PS3 or PS4, an Xbox 360 or an Xbox one, and while I don't own a Wii anymore or a WiiU Eikichi says they also have an online store so as you can see digital is here to stay. The benefits of digital of course are that

Tick Tock(9/16/11)

As days, weeks and months go by
an absent heart can grow fonder but also may die
where once passions burned and love sprang anew
can wither and crumble, scattered like dust by a broom
one can chase the sunrise or flee the moon
delicately master the melody or blare out of tune

I have absolutely no clue what the hell I was thinking here. I dunno I just started typing I guess. I wonder where it would have went if I had finished it? Oh well who knows maybe one of these days I will figure it out

The first mens outing for 2012(1/22/12)

I don't know if I wrote about this last year when we all decided to meet up in the bowling alley on Winchester to basically bring one generation together with the next. It was me and a few of my older cousins, my uncle and a bunch of the youngsters the reason was simple, quite a few of us had died recently many not making it out of their 30's. I mean yes some of the older folks had gone but way to many 30 and unders were no longer here to go to the family reunion and talk to, just give them a hug. A couple of them died due to accidents or outside non natural forces. And a few of the soon to be oldest of the family decided we needed to start reaching out and pulling each other together.

Now we had hoped to do this more often but last year got hectic we met in October, had planned to meet around Thanksgiving but that fell through and December is always a weird month for everybody(especially a Capricorn who's mother is a Sagittarius, and who's anniversary falls within the same time frame) so this time I decided hey I have all these new toys, why not record the outing. After a few fits and starts(basically shutting off my wifi connection because something kept freezing up the camera) I got the camera rolling and while I didn't catch that many faces(I know I should have placed the camera a little higher, but where I had it kept in in font of me and basically surrounded by us). Now by camera I mean the rear facing 5 mpix camera on my Toshiba Thrive now yes recording a full 45 minutes was a little much on my HD and I will probably once it gets done uploading here move it over to my laptop but hey if it plays it will be the first video I ever uploaded. Nothing fancy the sound will suck, we will be rowdy but this is what it looks like when me and my family go out and have fun.

In life sometimes you get so busy you forget to appreciate the people around you, and before you know it you go from thinking "oh well I will hit them up tomorrow" to "damn I meant to call them the other day". Now while we had fun this outing wasn't as seamless as the first one, this time we got there a little late. By we I am of course referring to Lank, Ero, and myself Kitsune was given the time of the meeting(6:00 pm central) but NEGLECTED to pass it on to anybody else, not that I was doing anything hell I was laying around the room counting bumps on the ceiling Lank was working. Now being as we hadn't done this in months my score was kinda low, I mean it was respectable(I bowled a 124, highest of the folks playing) but I missed so many spares it was ridiculous plus we only got to bowl one game so I never really got into a groove any thing over 100 is nice but I wanted to win and well I showed the score at the end of the vid.

I think if we had another game Kitsune would have calmed down and bowled better, I probably would have bowled worse I have up and down games like that but hey with Ero and my cousin D losing a few games to some weird glitch where it would just knock the pins down in your second frame I didn't feel so bad, hell I damn near finished with a turkey.

I forget what happened to the video that goes along with this. I got halfway done after we bowled, started waiting on the video and then NADA. Oh well, we did have fun. We also did a few more of these but they have since fallen to the wayside. This one could have really used some editing, now by followed by a now yes. Forgetting to write delete after probably, meh it was a fun time regardless.

2 years in the making(4/3/11)

One of these Days they will just give us the movie and not the thing they feel we will sit through

For those who don't know I follow Kevin Smith, the other fat comic book and sci fi movie geek from Jersey(he's just famous), and today he just tweeted out this kinda cool deleted scene from Batman v Superman that shows some mother boxes EARLIER in the movie. Which if you read either of my posts(here or wordpress) you would see that I have a problem with the kinda jerky way that BvS set up the story. Honestly I would have sat through a 3 hour movie if it gave me the full story. I am going to be extremely pissed off if I buy the directors cut and realize "oh crap this was actually an awesome movie, they just cut the 30 minutes worth of scenes that tied EVERYTHING TOGETHER." In this deleted scene I see some weird creature, Lex Luthor Jr. and what APPEAR to be motherboxes, which you know what in the right context could explain SOME of why Lex appeared so herky jerky.

Like I said in my review, the action scenes are awesome it just never makes sense on how we get there. I'm starting to think there are so many small connecting roads that in an editors mind didn't seem like much but then again without them we are a whole 3 stores over. And I really do believe that there is an awesome movie in this mess somewhere, the execs just had it cut down to far because EVEN though this is the binge watching age where people sitting in front of their TV for more than 3 hours on a regular basis(including myself when I went on that 3 day Daredevil Binge).

"Tell me, Do you bleed?"

This is about the Dark Knightest line we got all movie, Batman v Superman had a lot of action when it was crunch time, the story just didn't hold up for it. My main issue with Batman v Superman is that a lot of the things I THOUGHT would be motivation for not only our Iconic fight, but also the cause for our heroes to search for each other and unite pretty much fell flat. Ben Affleck was an awesome Batman(yes, I could be smug and link you to it instead I'll just add the correct label), and I will admit that while I still think she is a little light for my Warrior Queen Gail Gadot did deliver the action when it was fight time. It was many years in the making, and yes there is still that good old wordpress rant but Batman v Superman is here.

I will try not to give that many major spoilers which as I said in the post before is really the only reason people don't understand how lazy a lot of the writing and directing was, but some things just can't be ignored so if feel I have ruined parts of the movie for you there is a comments section fire away.

It's movie review day, woohoo

That's right ladies and gents, two days ago I went to the movies(well technically 3 days ago but as it was sold out I actually watched it two days ago) to view WB DC comics latest offering Batman v Superman:DAWN of JUSTICE (yes I am doing that sarcastically as if it is in a more pronounced voice) and if you have been to my wordpress blog you know I had some pretty strong feelings, but that wasn't a review that was a rant. Two days later, a couple of conversations with both my brother and a few friends, checking out some other reviews to see if MAYBE I am being a little harsh(which save ONE person saying they loved it, Tyrone Magnus on Youtube. He has spoilers at the end so if you watch it he warns you but I did too) the feelings are pretty much the same. I am going to try and find a way to be even handed about this, steer as far away from spoilers as possible(which is probably the only thing that saves this movie from a bad review), and admit this, I was entertained by the movie it just has problems. Like I said, if you don't give spoilers people won't understand WHY you have problems because to give them away would give away major plot place holders(I can't say points cause, yeah).

Also I am working on a post about the lessons that should be learned from Deadpool vs what Hollywood will probably take from Deadpool, which after watching Batman v Superman I am ready to double down on. I wish I knew how to Paginate here on Blogger but I guess I will just have to go ahead and break it up into different posts so that I can get all my points across. Mainly because everything RIGHT with Deadpool is everything they did WRONG in Batman v Superman. And while people don't have to agree with me, accept my points, or even read the post, I am going to be honest about it. Because I honestly think sticking closer to the good things Deadpool did(besides just making money) could make a better experience for comic book fans and movie goers alike.

Anyway this was just to let yall know, "Nah, not another hiatus, yes Sunday passed without a review blog but technically that would have been 24 hours not 48"

Trailers for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

After the total fail of Friday nights movie going attempt I used my fandango app to go ahead and buy us 3 tickets to see DC's latest offering, and hilariously enough somehow DC got TWO Marvel Previews before their movie. Now I am slightly upset that I still haven't seen any teasers for Doctor Strange but I guess I'll just have to wait til the heart of Summer movie season, I mean it comes out in November yall can't hold on to it much longer. Since we didn't go until Saturday night I will have to rush through the review on Monday(cause I have a jobby job). You got 5 trailers before Batman v Superman, Warner Bros got two in there, Marvel got two in there and then well let's stop stalling.

X-men: Apocalypse

20th Century Fox's SECOND Marvel movie this year, their first one is a smash hit(lol) and this one hopes to follow in it's footsteps. It is suspected that the first mutant was born thousands of years ago, and that people treated him as a God. He had 4 horseman that traveled with him everywhere, and he believed that ONLY the strong should survive. Charles Xavier now has a new class of mutants, that he has been training to help protect the world, but he was searching for man made or mutant threats not Godlike ones. Can Charles Xavier and his students possible defend the world from this awesome power as well as a few old friends, and possibly some new ones.

Week 1 is fast approaching(9/9/11)

I'm scanning injury reports, I'm constantly on the Eagles website trying to catch the next little tidbit of news, video, commentary. To say that I have a jones is an understatement I have loved football for the entirety of my life, and since I first learned how to sit up straight have watched the Philadelphia Eagles play football. Unlike others I had no doubts that we would have football this season too much money in it and unlike basketball, where people have become tired of all the sideshow antics both on the court and in the owners box, there is too much outside pressure from people in states who take their football seriously. If Roger Goodell let this lockout remain on too long I guarantee you there were a few states that he would have been persona non grata in most of the states who have pro football have a deep passion for it. Regardless to if you have a Lombardi trophy sitting in the case or not we go out in 0 degree or lower weather, rain, sleet, hail if you don't cancel the game(and if you do we will have some choice words for you) we will be there.

I know that my teams Offensive line is in flux, I won't lie and say it doesn't worry me than again speed kills and all we have is speed on the offensive side of the ball. I am waiting for a big announcement that Djax has gotten a new contract, I know we had better sign him and soon. I understand that football is a business but personally while we lost the older loudmouth wide receiver to Jerry Jones and his Blue Star we damn sure better not use the young, electrifying one. I will spare my giant fan readers the video(no it isn't saved on my desktop yes I have watched it a few times on youtube), but Desean Jackson in the open field is a coaches worst nightmare I watched some highlights of him in college, because I was bored and there are no 2011 highlights yet, and to see that he's always done that to DB's and punt teams is just wow. Yes I am still chomping at the bit to see Dion Lewis in a game situation, the kid just tears up the field and looks so illusive. I heard that Jeremy Maclin is going full speed and that possibly Steve Smith will play too, I will not lie and say that Jason Avant is another speedster but hey sometimes you just need a possession receiver and he's it.

Do blind men bluff

For those of us with Netflix subscriptions this weekend has probably turned into a binge watching of the newest season of Daredevil, and a little treat once you finish:The teaser trailer for Luke Cage(series drops Sept 30th, 6 months really Netflix?). I shouldn't be dropping any spoilers by saying Kingpin, The Punisher, and Elektra make an appearance. I wish we got more than 13 episodes a season though, yes I know the shows run roughly 52 minutes no commercials but you can't give me 17 or 20 episodes? As we all know the series old Big Bad Wilson Fisk is in Jail, tossed in the pokey after our hero dons his costume for the first time. And just like last season, you may HEAR of a big bad but you don't really get to see him til 5 or 6 episodes in or did you. One of the things that I came to enjoy this season is that with Kingpin out of the way our hero finds it a lot harder to pin down who is or isn't really behind the strife in the kitchen.

Of course with the Punisher in town, we aren't just gonna be able to get out of this thing without some blood being spilled. Frank Castle isn't one for speaking softly, and his idea of a big stick is a .50 cal, a gatling gun, or anything that will put a HUGE hole in you. The devil of hell's kitchen may be an altar boy but he has some competition, or is it help in our gun toting vigilante. He also has issue with the visit of an old flame, especially when Matty is trying to keep his fledgling or more like flailing law practice afloat. He's got his best bud at his side, a pretty babe and a heap of trouble because it seems the DA is not to fond of vigilante justice and she is AIMING to do something about it.

Hey Everybody

With these simple words Marvel has restarted their hype engine and completely stolen the Thunder from DC. Honestly, I know the thunder god  is one of their characters but this was supposed to be DC's month. No longer fighting Civil War in May, right after Deadpool's momentous winter opening this was supposed to be the sweet spot, but I guess Marvel wasn't in the sugar sharing mood. It also may hilariously be a shot at Joss Whedon, because having a trailer with:iron man, War machine, vision, black widow vs captain America, hawkeye, scarlet witch, winter soldier and adding in the black panther on Tony's side, Antman on Steve's with some awesome fight sequences can be considered an embarrassment of riches, that was honestly enough....

Until it wasn't, I already said this on wordpress but Tony Star screaming "underoos" was the cherry, pineapples and whipped cream on top of my already free awesome sundae. It harkens back to Tony's irreverence, it jokingly talks about Marvel's history as the home for spandex(vs DC's love for cowls and capes), and it allows the wall crawler to show up in a flashy, wacky, cocky, and ridiculous way. This is almost as awesome as Chris Evans pretending to be Loki, pretending to be Captain America. You take a tense scene and toss a fart machine in the middle of it. And it lends itself to such awesome parody, as both the webslinger and the merc with the mouth often do because what is a Spider-man or Deadpool cameo without some existential moment of either seriousness or ridiculousness.

In an editing mood (5/26/11)

If you happen to see my networked blog stream pick up a lot today, or you go back to some of your favorite posts and notice that maybe they look a little cleaner, or spelling errors have been fixed(in the article or the comments) thats because I am going through and editing WAAAAY after the fact. I don't know if it's just me or everybody hates going back and trying to figure out what and how bad they screwed something up that felt so good in the moment but here I go anyway. As it's 6pm central I don't know if I will make it to the movies tonight I guess it depends on how long editing takes me, and if I feel like walking again.

I don't know how far I am going to go back, I don't know if I'm glutton for punishment enough to go back to the first post I ever made, then again it might be nice to see if I can spot the plethora of spelling mistakes I know I would have made, as well as the many run on paragraphs, bad prose, words I invented(yes I know I am quite belligerent about adding words to the English language), and Jason Voorheesed any time of continuity or flow. I don't mention this being the randomosity train for nothing, I do ramble, stumble, double back and go in completely a different direction a lot. It's what I get for not using outlines and just allowing myself to go along whatever path the idea takes me along, some may say thats a good way to at least get writing

????????????????????????

I still don't know how far I went back that day. I see a few more posts that I need to go back and edit later. Still cleaning up my drafts folder, don't know if I will release everything in there, don't know if I will stop adding to it(which is kind of hard since sometimes you have an idea and then you lose it). Supposedly the updated the blogger app so I may start using that again when I don't want to pull out the laptop(we shall see)

The Trailers for Kung Fu Panda 2 (5/28/11)

As this is Memorial Day weekend and the movie industry is trying to get more bang for it's buck there are two releases this weekend, this is my first movie of the weekend(and since Lank has a habit of flaking I will probably do the review for KFP2 tonight and walk to The Hangover 2 tomorrow) I missed most of the first trailer but meh, it wasn't really a movie I want to see anyway. Looks like because this was an animated movie they decided to do all the "kiddie/family" trailers on it oh well, you go see an animated movie you take that risk, well away we go to the trailers from Kung Fu Panda 2:the search for more Kung Fu AWESOMENESS

Judy Moody and the not Bummer Summer

A movie along the lines of Superfudge(and something else that slips my eclectic memory, I swear when this wave crescendos in I'm gonna be pissed) young precocious kid, annoying sibling, wacky hijinx either during the school year or during the summer. It seems Judy's parents are going on some trip out of town and Judy has this "summer of thrills" things planned with the other girls in her school. Problem is she's been stuck with Stink(her little brother, I don't know what it is with giving younger siblings messed up nick names, stops talking before I incriminate myself) and has very few "Thrill coins" stocked up so she is waaay behind. Enter Aunt Opal, untamed curls, somewhat distant ding batty look to her eyes and the fun begins. Yes when I was younger movies like this would have appealed to me my sense of wanting to escape from the apartment and go out and explore the world, but now I'm good this is too kiddie even for a walk down memory lane.

*The Adventures of * Tin Tin

The loveable English children's character with the little white Scottish Terrier is back, I mean I know he got an HBO children's series a while back and you know while his action, adventure, mystery, and suspense them is right up my alley, meh never got into Tin Tin. Hell I knew exactly what the movie was about half way through the trailer and somehow mentally tuned it out. Tin Tin is on some adventure, to find some thing, over seas, air, dessert(why is he always crossing a damn dessert) and running through this city and that, hiding in back alleys, eavesdropping on shady people. If you are a Tin Tin fan and feel I am giving him a bad rap, I freely open up the comments for you to state his case, and it has nothing to do with him being British. I love C.S. Lewis characters, Robin Hood, King Arthur, as well as the Harry Potter books, and The Chronicles of Prydain series.

%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Another one of my trailer blogs, I know a new Kung fu Panda movie came out I just wasn't feeling it. I didn't see the first one in theaters, I did go watch the second one, it was kind of fun. The third one though meh. Who knows maybe I will regret not seeing it in theaters, but it was two weeks before Deadpool and that was my focus. This year is about to be the Battle of the Titans. DC and Marvel have multiple movies coming out this year, Technically Marvel has 3 coming out because Fox released Deadpool, but there are two Marvel proper movies Captain America:Civil War and Doctor Strange vs two DC movies Batman v Superman:Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad.

Hilariously the only group putting pressure on Marvel is Marvel, I mean with who knows how many Billion dollar or just under Billion Dollar movies under its belt the House that Prints Money(formerly the house that Stan built) only has to keep up the good work, and Civil War seems to be another hit in the making. Nothing but a few stills and Cumberbatch in the suit for Doc Strange though, which is kind of smart. Why fight with Deadpool and Civil War it would get buried. As for Suicide Squad it may turn out to be a runaway hit like Guardians of the Galaxy, but B v S Dawn of Justice is in a tough spot, it is DC's answer to the runaway hit that is the Avengers movies, no pressure right. Marvel just had a two year 6 movie head start(and no I don't count Nolan's Batman movies because what do you know that ain Bale and that ain Bale's world). I'm going to watch it when it comes out in a few weeks and while I hope it is good, everything in my heart screams raggedy mess.

While DC isn't Marvel, a rushed story is a rushed story, and as I said in my EWwGL post rushing things rarely turns out well. To introduce 4 new characters (RIGHT) would take like 3 1/2 hours. Especially characters of this magnitude, Wonder Woman? Batman? Flash? Aquaman? These guys are the pillars of DC's comic empire(I said COMIC not MOVIE), most times that you see an animated representation of DC's wares 2 or more of those characters are involved. The only time Aquaman did not play a huge part in a major DC cartoon was Justice League, and that had Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Hawk Girl, and Martian Manhunter. And when that show went unlimited(Justice League Unlimited that is) guess who's scaly butt showed up, that's right Aquaman.

Anyway enough this is a throwback post so I hope you guys get a laugh out of it

COD:Black ops Laced up, Locked and Loaded(11/17/10)

After doing the initial thoughts blog I've of course been playing, and playing lots of multiplayer, shooting lots of people, using C4, using Nova gas, using semtex, using the RC car, using napalm, mortar strikes. I've been an evil bastard, I will admit.

Okay so let's go boots on the ground with this:the options on the games are outrageous. Once you reach the required level to unlock the ability to do something as long as ya got the COD cash and are the right level buy away. I've bought C4 and claymore's(as my equipment), switched from willie pete's to Nova Gas, gone back and forth between semtex and frag grenades.

Why back and forth? Sometimes its better to have a frag grenade, the ability to roll towards a potential target especially if you cook it first(for those not familiar with the process of "cooking" a grenade its where you pull the pin hold it for a few seconds then toss it makes it harder to run away from) makes it devastating. Where as if you have a person potentially hiding by a door or wall a semtex grenada thrown against a near by wall might protect you from walking into an ambush.

That is also why I switched to nova gas from willie pete's if you aren't prepared for nova gas, the ticking away of you health saves me bullets. Plus somebody injured who walks into it might as well hang it up. Your dead fam, point blank period. The weapons are different then Modern Warfare 2, I miss my scar sometimes, but the Galil is nice. I'm using the AUG right now it does decent damage, has nice range, a large magazine and reloads in an OK amount of time, I may have to switch to slight of hand though. I'm just saying there are times when I could use that extra second or two.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Aaaah yes black ops, somehow I completely skipped black ops II but I really did enjoy the first one on PS3. This was shortly after my 360 had died(salute *taps playing in the background*) and I had changed over to the "enemy camp" (yes it's in quotation marks because I am an old gamer, it ain about the system it is all about the games. And the shiny new blu ray player the PS3 now had me using). PSN(playstatin network) may have more users on their network currently(as PS4 has shipped more units than Xbox one/Xbone and with the already installed PS3 units even though the 360 won last gaming cycle) but Xbox live always seems to have a better interface. No online interface can be perfect because we all don't use equal broadband providers. Some of us are kicking along with 15 down and 1-3 up while others are dealing with 5 down and .44 up(that's mbps). I remember Black Ops one fondly, I just didn't pick up Black ops II not really for any reason. Just like I didn't get Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, I have Ghosts I just didn't pick up the next one at the time.

I will start another post about DLC(Down Loadable Content, I know download is one word but that is how it is written, don't shoot the messenger), season passes, and the like later. Some feel it is the bane of the current gaming cycle(end of PS3/360 through the Playtation 4 and Xbox one lifetimes) others see it as a POTENTIAL for expanding/extending the life cycle of older games. Like I said that will be another blog. I hope you enjoy this throwback post no matter how short it is

Games I'm playing: Magic Duels

Now way back yonder in the 90's a card game came out called: Magic the Gathering, it is in the line of the Pokemon card game or Yugioh(well maybe not Yugioh, I think you can just play cards period regardless of mana costs in Yugioh), you buy a started deck(usually about 30 to 50 cards), a few booster decks(around 15 cards per pack), you arrange the best cards you find into some semblance of a fighting deck depending on what creatures you have. Many I day did I spend playing this game, Magic is slightly different than other card games in that it is built with a potential cooperative mode from the start. Magic uses 5 different "magic types" white, black, red, green, and blue, if you look at the back of a card the line up in a pentagram pattern:
Like so, and per the old rules who ever was diagonal from you was your enemy(so for white it was red and black, for green blue and black and vice versa) and directly next to you was your friend. Now some of you might be looking and saying, "wait what, but that means both of your allies are also allies with one of your enemies!" yes, yes they are. Which makes for an interesting bit of diplomacy, because sooner or later you are gonna want to go for a kill shot and are going to have to make a request. for black to win white and green have to die, for red to win blue and white, and so on and so forth.

Who ya gonna call, now

The new Ghostbusters trailer has officially dropped here's the link. So obviously the question is, what do I think. It looks like it will be funny, but it kind of looks like a parody instead of a full on reboot. Like silly things happened in the original Ghostbusters movie, but they took capturing paranormal phenomenon seriously. If I'm gonna to be honest, two skinny white women, one chubby white woman and a black chick okay yes it looks like the gender bent ghostbusters. Since none of the names are the same I am a little disappointed that they aren't the daughters of the originals, a passing of the torch would have been nice. Even some sort of tortured legacy(see what I did there, oh come on Ghosts, tortured legacy, whatever it's funny) that the only pick up because the city is in danger would have been a nice romp. Doesn't mean it won't be good, just means its not the sequel/reboot I was hoping for so far.

Now I'm not naive, I know that most of the more recent reboots focused less on being serious and more on making fun of the source material. And the last movie to try and seriously recreate the original(Man from U.N.C.L.E) had lukewarm success at best, I don't think it was because the source material is bad. I think it was because you needed to make it more in line with the times, actually upgrade and modernize the characters, if people wanted to watch the original that's what netflix, amazon prime, hulu, and a million other streaming services are for. What they can't do is pull a Bourne Identity out of their butts easily, the director of the Bourne Identity was brilliant, we were once again hearing tell of shadow government programs of rendition, black ops programs, and possible brain washing. So instead of rehashing a cold war story and putting it on the screen verbatim they tweaked it a little. Even the A-team movie(which I feel should have gotten a sequel) gave you the team, a few of the old cast members, and a story that was believable if a little over the top(which for the A-team is par for the course).

Can these ladies handle their proton packs, maybe and honestly I hope so at first blush it isn't terrible but as a fan of the original I really wanted them to go ahead and admit:This has happened before, things kept going on, but now we have some new blood in the game. The actresses involved(that I know) have been pretty good in past movies, and they might even have good chemistry onscreen(which the original cast had in spades, granted they had worked together in who knows how many movies), but can they be good in this role, treat it with a level of respect AND make us laugh at the same time. I mean they started off with a sliming, and the "every crack" joke was decent(wasn't out of the park, maybe a swallowing joke or a ectoplasmic pregnancy test joke SOMETHING, you got ghost splooged run with it), and it was awesome to see Slimer again.

I plan to see this movie, I want this movie to be good, I want more Ghostbuster movies. They were fun, they were silly, and they were something you and your parents could enjoy without one of the other having to spend half the ride home explaining "what were they talking about" I want to scream GHOSTBUSTERS when Ray Parker Jr. comes on, but at least with this first trailer you don't have me completely sold. My interest is still piqued, but I'm not checking fandango yet for ticket preorders

The makings of a Baby Doo(9/27/11)

For those who have NEVER watched Scooby Doo, Scoob and his owner Shaggy at least once an episode would find themselves in a kitchen, pantry, or other food storage/preparation area.

++++++++++++++++

This was going to be the silliest post ever, I was making a sandwich a hilariously large sandwich for no other reason than I was bored AND hungry. I probably got busy thus never finished this post which was just silliness anyway. As I said it was scooby doo inspired really delicious and completely unnecessary. This is the fun of doing these posts, going back and wondering what the hell I was thinking at the time

Mutant and proud (6/18/11)

X-men First class is a break from the previous X-men movies, yes there were explosions, yes there were special effects but no it wasn't this polished old soldier against old soldier slugging it out in the trenches type of movie. In actuality First class even with all the "line up" changes was like watching an Xmen comic brought to life. While Charles Xavier is the most powerful Psychic mutant first and foremost he is a TEACHER, he wants to help mutants learn to harness their powers and become not only masters of themselves but also positive members of society. All the other movies there may have been a classroom here or there thrown in, but the lessons seemed unimportant. It was as if they were treating them like you treat schools in other movies, the boring part just thrown in so that the kids can relate. While yes sometimes the mutant kids got bored with their regular school assignments Professor X wouldn't allow them to not equate one with the other. You actually get to see him taking each mutant past his fears to a more positive center.

Eric Lennshur is a complicated man, he was at the concentration camps in Warsaw. One of initial manifestations of his powers was seeing his parents taken away from him when they were separating the parents from their children. I think as far as raw emotion is concerned the scene at the beginning of X-men 1 where you see young Eric grasp the iron gate with his fledgling mutant abilities and be immovable by 8 Nazi soldiers before being knocked unconsciously was epic. So the fact that for X-men:First Class they revisited that scene and went in depth as to "What happens next". You wonder why Magneto hates humans(Thoooooough technically Shaw isn't human more on that later), how would you feel if just to see you special abilities again somewhere hurt a relative? I mean in X-men you just assumed the Nazi's killed his parents and while he didn't see how it happened it was enough to be angry. In First Class it no longer is a guesstimation you see how and why, you see his "Virgin Vader Moment"(yes I mean the scene at the end of  Revenge of the Sith NOOOOOO! scream) and exactly how much power his anger releases. You see the beginning of his quest for vengeance and his distrust of homo sapiens sans superior(marvel has been known to call mutants Homo Sapiens Superior) due to his dealings with the Nazis as a young Jew.

===============================

I forgot I didn't finish this blog, I really did like First Class, no it wasn't perfect but it focused on more than just the relationship of 3 characters. It showed you that while powerful these people are still fragile, that their decisions aren't just straight, direct, and without doubt. I also like how they continued it in Days of future past, I don't remember Mystique being so prominent between Charles and Eric but they really are two brothers fighting for a cause in different ways. One looking at a more peaceful, steady, progression into a harmonies future while the other does not wish to wait. HE wants your action right now, he believes the slow way allows too much pain and if his choice is for the pain of HIS people or the pain of YOURS, yours can suffer until hell freezes over(which depending on if he has somebody mind controlling Bobby Drake may or may not happen quickly).

I love how they showcased Hanks intelligence, I don't think they really did Alex justice but it's hard to explain somebody's motivation when you didn't introduce it. Alex Summers is an orphan, to his knowledge a lone orphan and when his powers manifest he meets his older brother who is already this awesome super hero. Alex and Scott summers are one of the best Sibling Rivalry stories out there but since there is no Scott there really can't be a full Alex. This movie's Angel was a push, Darwin was a semi let down. Seriously the dudes powers are that he can evolve to survive anything, as a matter of fact if the Hulk is coming he evolves teleportation powers and gets outta Dodge. The bad guy played by Kevin Bacon was perfect, I liked their Emma Frost even if somehow she becomes a member of Magneto's Brotherhood instead of the leader of the Hellfire club.

Anyway rules are rules I still have fond memories of this movie and I might revisit the series once Apocalypse drops

Everything wrong with "Green Lantern"

It all starts with an oath, an announcement of a calling, a drive, a determination. Their power is will, and with this they proclaim it's power, is unwavering discipline, and the brotherhood of which they have sworn their allegance.
In brightest day in blackest night No evil shall escape my sight.Let those who worship evil's might Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!!!
They are the core, the Green Lantern core warriors who defend the 3600 sectors of the known(or at least considered under the jurisdiction of The Guardians of Oa) Universe. Now the name of this blog is "everything wrong with" and it was hinted at in my "We are the Core" throwback blog that was lost to some weird technological fluke. The sad part about Green Lantern is that the movie would have been just fine if somebody didn't decide the rush in the last 30 minutes. This movie was like a tall show cake or a sugar sculpture, it took its time, it had a vision, and it was trying to come on down to the presentation.... And somebody got antsy. I will cover a lot of what was right or at least serviceable first, while I haven't seen the movie in years the problems that it had still haunt me to this day. Because I really wanted this movie to work, even though this movie was delaying my ability to get a Deadpool movie(which, have you seen it DUDE when you get it right you get it right) it had the right actor, it had the potential to open up DC's movie universe to include other characters that Superman and Batman(which is sorely needed) and it would give more people a look into a pretty cool comic book character, and then the last 30 minutes happened. So lets get on in to it

I made it a double(2/22/12)

Tuesday night since I had access to a vehicle, was off work on the early side and had a few shekels to rub together decided to hit the movies. This won't seem to new or out of the ordinary for most folks who read in 2010 or 2011 since I went to the movies almost every week. Unfortunately my normal movie viewing destination has closed and my old Friday habit of hoofing it the 10-15 minutes it was to make it there for the last show is no more.

So I went to the Paradiso, a Malco Theater(one of these days I'll take a pic of the sign) and decided to take in Ghost Rider:Spirit of Vengeance. And as I got out around 9:30 I decided "hey why not go ahead and watch Safe House too, just in case my brothers Welch on movie outings again."  I wasn't paying attention but GR was in 3D and I don't know about the rest of the glasses wearing movie public but the glasses over my glasses always give me mild eyestrain and a slight head ache. It was much worse during the old "blue and red paper throw aways" days, now its not every but a few GR falling into the few category. So i forked over my 12 buck(my poor wallet) and sat through the flick, got 5 trailers, that blog coming soon, and watched the movie. Review MAY be coming later, afterwards since a showing of Safe House was coming up within a few minutes I hopped back in line a paid for my ticket(don't give me that*yeah right* look I actually have the stubs to prove it) and enjoyed the 9:30ish showing of Safe House. I got 5 trailers with each movie I'll try and get those in today and possibly clean my review slate up for at least 2012.

If you aren't having a good week so far, hey it's Thursday tomorrow night begins the weekend

--------------------------------------

I know Spirit of Vengeance pretty much buried the series, I forget if I did a review for it or not but I hated how they just tossed aside the Penance Stare it was awesome in GR. I understand that they wanted to show a little more conflict in SoV but you don't change what works. Safehouse was interesting, Ryan and Denzel put in good performances. I am cleaning out my drafts folder and this is turning out to be pretty fun. As I go through and show off either old blogs or old "blogs in the making" you will get a better idea of where I start or how I go about writing, I can tell you most of it is chaos, I will ask you to forgive my spelling errors in these throw back posts because I do that at the end and of course these are as is(thus why you got the blank "we are the core" Blog)

The trailers for X-men:First class(6/5/12)

I caught the 10:10 Showing of X-me:First Class last night, theater was packed even for that late showing, granted I was at the Paradiso it tends to get a lot of traffic anyway. So here's what popped up when the lights went down

Spy Kids All the time in the World

Jessica Alba as a retired spy

-----------------------------

This will be a double post, because I think I started this and somehow it double saved so I have the one with the Link in it and the one without. I guess I never did the trailer blog for first class

Yeah this is the other one, I have no clue how I got two of them but I did, and somehow here they are.

I don't even remember what the other movies were that played. I could find the text I sent myself but again as is

Well at least I'll be clean

I know, it looks like I'm OCD right(then again, they aren't really symmetrical are they) but while I was taking my sister to Rite Aid I remember, "Damn I'm out of body wash" so I roll in and what do you know, bogo don't know about you but two for one is right up my alley. What I didn't know was my sister was gonna be nice and buy me some as well, so now I have soap for who knows how long. My preferences are the outside ones, but hey free soap is free soap. I'm all about a clean booty and I hope you are too.

So now I am the king of body wash, I knew I wanted a bottle didn't realize I was gonna end up with four. Anyway this is a throw away blog, if you like Irish Spring body wash, and you live near a rite aid, and have a rite aid plenti card I say stock up. They have quite a few Buy one Get one free items. Otherwise I will create a real blog later. I don't know if I want to share my concerns about the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie(which yes I have quite a few, I know I wrote that I wanted to see a justice league movie but I have concerns), I also know that I put up a TT blog about Green Lantern(yeah the one that got erased) and I actually want to go into what was wrong with that movie, because the whole movie wasn't terrible, Like Daredevil it had a lot of good going on with it, it's just some of the delivery that fell short. For Daredevil it still made quite a bit of money, for Green Lantern it was just a terrible taste in peoples mouths. I also want to get into my hopes for the upcoming Wonder Woman movie, how I feel about DC picking a second Flash for their movies(and them not making it Wally West, that way you could tie the two universes together or hell make one Earth 2), my hopes for the Suicide Squad movie and what I think of the supposed Harley Quinn controversy.

Like I said this was just a "Hey cool deal going on til Saturday" type blog but I'll get to the real ones shortly.

It's beginning to feel a lot like springtime

Which if the weather man is to be believed is a lie, because it's about to get cold again. I'm out here on the road and have a free minute waiting for someone to get done with a long line. I am a little groggy, a little tired, but I'll be alright. A little butterfly told me that "Race" was pretty good(The Jesse Owens story), so IF I can muster up the energy later I will go and check it out. I think another big comic book movie is coming up soon as well(no not May/august soon That's Civil War and Batman v Superman) I will have to check, thanks to Deadpool the bar for 2016 has been set reasonably high, which is awesome. To have a movie break 190 million, when A it was so unbelievably screwed up the first time you saw it on the big screen, B was in development hell for so long, and C given a shoe string budget to work with just wow.

--------------------------

The day turned out to be longer than a giraffes neck so I may put the movies off til tomorrow(don't you love when out of nowhere I just change directions), but my day is over (Yaaaay, *kermit the frog hands*) and I'll probably kick back with some fallout or rainbow six siege(or both). Hope everyone is having a great Saturday and that you find a way to get out like I probably won't

Hee hee hee, I almost forgot to title this thing, welp this will do it

Enjoying the great outdoors, okay no I'm not. I'm just outside the shed goofing off while allowing electronics to not be annoying. It's Friday, it's going to be a LOOOONG Friday. Me and the highways are going to get familiar again today, why cause life said so(I almost want to make that polysyllabic so that I could get a little "cause STONE COLD said so" going on, cause that used to be hilarious). This Friday isn't as major as last Friday, no immediate birthdays, no HUGE superhero movie openings. You hear that Deadpool has mad so much money people now have to consider what that means for the Comic Superhero Movie Genre.

No seriously, Deadpool has damn near quadrupled it's budget, they got 58 million to make it, blew past that by Friday evening. You know that Friday when the mean people made us wait an extra two hours to enjoy the extreme opposite of Fantastisuck, literally like there is an Ultimate comics joke, that invented a word, that perfectly described the last Fox fantastic 4 movie. And will they learn the right lesson, get COMIC FANS, who are talented, in the writing and directing field, GIVE THEM MONEY, leave them alone, AND RAKE IN STACKS AND STACKS OF DOUGH. And also Marvel, if  we could get a viral Spidey marketing campaign SIMILAR to Deadpool, no no fourth wall breaking but lots of: Spidey pops up, wise cracks at some annoying figure(bringing back DB Sweeney would be nice, hell put him in the Farmers commercial that would rock), mysteriously webs them up.

Comic Book movies I want to see made DC: Wonder Woman(2013, I forgot to copy down the date on this one) Throwback Thursday

Yes, I want to see the Themysciran on the big screen by her lonesome. Wonder Woman is one of the few female lead characters to have her own book and not require a male lead of similar or the exact same powers to take charge. Batgirl is an off shoot from Batman, Mary Marvel is Captain Marvel/Shazaam's , Supergirl is Superman's cousin most of them have the same weaknesses(though some were given such extremely lame weaknesses that calling it sexist is being generous) as their male counterparts but Wonder Woman has no XY peer in DC ville. Now especially in her current iteration(she has had a few reboots) her main peers are real heavy weights, she has strength, speed, and flight abilities similar to Superman, and her mind has been put on the level with Batman. Yes the paragons of the DC brand Batman's brains, Superman's strength and all within a curvy and yet steel willed body.

Depending on which Wonder Woman you were first introduced to she has gone from the JLA secretary(I will cite this later on in the blog put the knives and arrows away, I myself was surprised), to a pretty smile with some damn good reflexes and great lasso skills(Super Friends). Then you have the Justice League era(if there was one between it I will do more research and amend this in the piece either in this first overview or in the second my reasons why) Wonder Woman where she was the Ambassador for Paradise Island the Amazon homeland, skilled warrior, power house, with a pro female mindset. I don't want to call it hyper feminist or feminist because in a sense where she was from it's as normal as our patriarchal societal view, women were always in charge, they handled the majority of business, defense, and learning, men were around but for the most part they were for breeding. Now I am not forgetting about things that have been raised in the DC new 52(I understand that I probably need to update my former Justice League piece since the New 52 had just started and I had kind of gotten lost in it. I want to catch up and then give more details) but I will address that with other things like the Linda Carter live action TV series from the late 70's. While there are Marvel Female characters that she is similar to(strength, speed, flight) she is a lot like Captain America in the fact that a lot of her back story was heavily based in WWII. Add into that her attachment to Greek Mythology(it's still Greek Mythology even in the New 52, I wondered if they would switch it to Roman but I like that much of the adherence to her pre New 52 past). I am also fond of the new direction they have taken with Wonder Girl, and possibly Donna Troy/Troai though Donna has not shown up as of yet, but as I got through different books there are hints at a previous Teen Titans so she may be a part of that.
