Comic Book movies I would like to see made.

Doing my little rant about all those DC fans Screaming "Young Justice" as an answer to Disney Marvel's the Avengers got me to thinking, "exactly which comics would I like to see translated into future movies from EACH company?" And you know what that is a valid question, not only is it a valid question but it is an excuse to release the entirety of my Comic Geekdom just for the out and out hell of it. Now I am saying BOTH but I may add in Image, Dark Horse and Top Cow comics as well. But much later down the line because there are PLENTY of DC and Marvel characters I think can do well on the big screen.

Okay so I'm saying I want to do it right, next is the how. The how will be a post on each comic, for each company and possibly on or at the start of a certain story line. In certain cases say like New Mutants/Xforce and Teen Titans/Young Justice (or even X-factor 1 and 2) I may do a couple of posts because I would like to see a sequel of movies. Also in the case of young Justice and X-force since there are a few iterations of each I also plan to make a case for each iteration. Now some may know about the Young Justice Cartoon having a different line up then the comic. But how many remember that the ORIGINAL X-force was not Cyclops' personal black ops team but Cable's mutant soldiers in training. Which is kind of funny since Cyclops is Cable's dad, whew the drama in that family I tell ya.

As I think "Avengers" broke 1 billion today either matching or breaking "Avatars" record I might also discuss who I think are the most viable members of the team to bring on for any and all ensemble movies. I say this because for those who are not familiar with the Avengers certain members were missing. The Wasp, Ant-man/Giant-man, Quicksilver and the Scarlett Witch for starters. I am not overly surprised at The wasp and Hank Pym's Giant man/ Ant man not being a member of the team because that brings a whole domestic violence dynamic into the movie that might not have played well. The Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are the children of Magneto and while that MIGHT have been Quicksilver in X-men Origins: Wolverine we aren't really sure so to have them appear out of no where with no backstory would be hard. In the "Ultimate" line of comics there was also always this subtle incestuous undertone between the two, I don't know how that would play out on the big screen either.

Now no not ALL teams had back story before they hooked up, but most of the good and most remembered ones do. We can also discuss continuity as well as which continuity should we use since both Marvel and DC have recently reset the clocks. Dc has actually done it twice now, one with the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" series of comics and lately with the "New 52". In Crisis DC decided to give up one of comics most annoying but tried and true plot whole fixes: it happened in a "Parallel Universe". That's right if somebody decided to try out a storyline and it didn't work on that was on Earth X12 or 11ty billion, whatever it took to not have it affect your "main" storyline. And if you needed it again later why just dig it up and bring it in from that universe. It got annoying because you would see something in a storyline for a while, would "know" XYZ about a character and if it didn't track well you would feel gipped later when they revealed "the alternate universe theory".

As for the New 52 DC cancelled a few of it's books and picked 52 titles with which to start "Over" with as Number 1's" I put over in quotation marks because some characters didn't really start over they just started from where we currently are. I mean The Justice league is reforming as a team again(this time with Vic Stone/Cyclops as a founding member of JL) starting out on their "first Mission" But Superman seems to have already been around in SOME of the comics while in others he is still an up and coming Clark Kent with the big "S" not yet a household name. He is working on the rep but it isn't perfect. And Batman while it is a #1 seems to be going right along with the "Batman Ince" storyline, batwing still exists, Dick is Nightwing, Tim is Red Robin, and out of no where Jason Todd is back amongst the living as Red Hood. Oh Damien Wayne is Robin if you were wondering. Not exactly starting over if you have the first 3 robins on deck all with their own teams and comics.

Marvel hasn't given up the beauty of the Multiple universes yet, they like them too much. Plus "What if's" have always been some of Marvel's best selling one shots/one story arc books. So you have the 616, 2349 etc where various stories, things and occurrences have happened, depending on what happened where you might get Deadpool corps or the Exiles. Then of course you have the Ultimate Universe, Marvels retelling of some of it's most popular stories in a slightly accelerated updated version. the ultimate universe also currently has the rule of basically people not coming back from the dead like revolving doors. Especially in the X universe(mutants) everytime you turn around somebody dies and is cloned, phoenixed, magically reappears, or just pops back with no explanation.

So yeah going forward I will talk about what I want to see, the reasons why, and what I hope they accomplish if they do it. I may talk about the Avengers Sequel but not right away. Avengers is just fine and I want to see what they do in the sequels between now and Avengers II before I start making Net demands.
