As you can see the first half of my list had up and downs it was almost like if I watched a good movie the next one was crap. Now I didn't plan it that way(because NO ONE plans it that way, who wants to waste money on crappy movies), in the second half of the year though I had much better picks granted I didn't hit every movie I planned to hit but I got 3 good ones and one decent one. It was much better than the movie that culminated the last list but it wasn't the high point of the second half of 2016.
2016 also see me hit the drive in again for this first time in years, which redeems the drive in because if I'm not mistake my last drive in movies was The Hulk(yeah yeah get your HOOOOEMYGAWDS out of the way). It was a nice date night with an old friend and while the slush machine was a little bitter we enjoyed the movie, which was
This is my more mature blog. By mature I mean I'm going to follow some rules and I'm going to try and do more then take the easy way out. No cursing I gotta find a different way to say it and still emphatically get my point across

My movies of 2016
I initially tried to write this on Wordpress but it became my "everything I did in 2016" blog, so we gone try this again, over here, with no cursing, EEEEEEVEN though I am gonna be discussing some straight up GARBAGE movies. but lets give it a go shall we. As you know I tend to go to the movies a fair amount, some years and months more than others. I think I hit 10 last year, not all the ones I wanted to or THOUGHT I would see, I hit most of the majors but not all of them. And it was a mixed bag, seriously a mixed bag because there were some good movies, some bad movies, some nice attempts and then some I have no clue what the director was thinking.
When I did this on word press I meant to, actually I'm not sure what I meant to do so now I am gonna to give you a few paragraphs about each movie I watched and if I feel it's getting wordy I will break it up into extra posts. Now personally I feel that my movie watching year started out pretty damn well, as only it could with what we were given the one and only

I have a dream, I want to see an Empire Fall
This is the year of the comic book movie, We are 3 down and we have 3 more to go(if you count Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, who started out in a Graphic Novel). We have already gotten 3 movies from two of the biggest names in Comics, Two from Marvel and one from DC and this review is about the latest offering from Marvel:
Captain America:Civil War
The latest Captain America sequel is based on a comic book ark by the same name "Civil War" and for the most part follows a SIMILAR path. In the comics a villain named Nitro decided to explode next to an elementary school in Stamford Connecticut while in a "reality TV"style fight with the New Warriors. In the Marvel universe super heroes basically grow on trees, and it isn't exactly cheap so when one of the lesser known groups decides that they need an "edge" they decide to crime fight for the TV,(just like cops) bring along a camera crew, and duke it out for ratings. Unfortunately, thanks to Nitro, it becomes such a focal point that most of the new warriors as well as the villains who were with Nitro die(except for Speedball who's powers saved him) plus a bunch of innocent civilians including that elementary school full of children. In the Comics Tony Stark was ORIGINALLY in Washington DC to try and delay the Super Hero Registration Act, but seeing the horror of the explosion as well as a few angry parents who shoved pictures of dead children into his face causes his resolve to falter. It splits the super hero world in the Marvel Universe asunder, some heroes side with Iron Man as Pro Registration feeling that with some proper training, government backing for insurance purposes, and accountability while they couldn't prevent every disaster people would at least know who they were and realize that they were just regular people. Captain America on the other hand felt it was too risky, all those heroes who fought so hard to protect the public only to now have to worry about protecting their families. If you had a secret identity(which Technically Captain America doesn't everyone knows that Cap is Steve Rogers) it was for a good reason and NO ONE should be allowed to usurp that reason. While there were Many Avengers who sided with Iron Man the ULTIMATE tipping point in the comics was Tony Stark convincing Spider-man to unmask. In a Press conference Peter Parker reveals that he had been Spider-man since he was 15 years old, and that while he always tried his best he understood that his wearing a mask sometimes sent the wrong message.
It's a really good story ark and worth a read, but while there are PLENTY of similarities with the comic story Captain America Civil War is a beast all it's own. For a few reasons, one unlike in the comics where Marvel owns the rights to ALL of it's characters, in the movies they currently own HALF(thought with the deal with Sony and rumors of a possible deal with fox that HALF may become all) which still gives them a lot of leeway but they've only been making movies in the MCU for about 10 years so they really haven't had time to build up a 100 hero plus roster. Plus unlike a comic book or comic books movies have to be around 2 1/2 to 3 hours, and you really can't just pick it up and come back next month for the next segment. So without further ado

The problems with Batman v Superman part 2
I have this thing about blog posts getting too long on a single page. I know I talk alot, I have a lot of theories, ideas, and points I want to make in some posts. As such I don't want you scrolling forever, in wordpress I would just add a nice little < !--nextpage-- > tag and boom keep on going, since I can't do that in blogger I try and break it up once I feel it gets too long. So let's get right back to:
Motivations Continued
I really don't think Wonder Woman would care about a picture of her. And again A picture of her can't be more important than THE ENTIRE WORLD BEING DESTROYED. So if it didn't phase her in Man of Steel, why does she care about Doomsday in Batman v Superman? She already chastised Bruce Wayne about boys not liking to play with others, why wouldn't she have stopped them from fighting? And if she is already in Gotham why didn't she talk to Wayne about his Bat Vigilantism if it was so easy to figure out, he was apparently a huge bully, and was possibly dangerous to the world for the last 20 years. I mean seriously, if it wasn't for his strict moral code people could easily see Batman becoming a totalitarian and a force who needs to be stopped.
The court room full of people trying to get Superman to explain why it is a bunch of people in Africa got shot has to be the dumbest thing in the history of the world. Seriously, the guy has lazer eyes, the strength to hold up or tear apart buildings, can fly into space, hit Mach "OMG how did he get across the world so quick just because he heard you threaten Lois from Metropolis", and run faster than a speeding bullet, nobody is dumb enough to think he went around shooting people. And by the way the court room scene, hes Superman he would have just flown the bomb out of the room. I don't care if he scanned for it, he's Superman, as it started to explode he would have flown it out of the building and drew all of the flames and force with him because Back Draft. No really, even if you tell me that he DIDN'T scan the room for any type of incident just because he showed up, people have been dieing in places that he goes, and well I'm invulnerable because nothing (That I know of) can hurt me, that doesn't explain why as the bomb is exploding he doesn't try to clear people out of the courtroom, remove the bomb from the courtroom, or as he hears the actuator trip do SOMETHING,

The problems of Batman v Superman
Okay, it's been a month. If you WANTED to see Batman v Superman you already have, if you haven't spoilers mean nothing to you, and on top of that enough people have ranted about this movie on youtube, tumblr, and various other social media outlets that mean going off on it here won't be a shocker. This isn't wordpress so I will keep the expletives out of it, but yes there will be an expletive filled one later. Now, the disclaimers:
- I am a Die Hard Marvel fan
- I wasn't fond of Man of Steel
- While I have read a decent amount of the New 52, I thought it was short sighted
- I actually know where Metropolis and Gotham are located
- I have read most of Wonder Woman's origin stories
- I know how bad guys in comics and movies act
And yes 4,5, and 6 are important because they are part of the biggest problems with this movie, because it seemed like for whatever reason to give us those BEAUTIFUL visuals Zack Snyder ignored so much about the DCU. Now I know that DC is about to do another reboot titled "rebirth" I will read them when it starts, but I would hope that they won't base it on whatever Zack Snyder's DC universe is because NO! I'm not saying that this is the Last Airbender, Dragonball evolution, or even Bloodrayne (I'm not honestly). I am saying that what this movie and Man of Steel did with the source material and the characters is shameful because I wouldn't look up to these characters, I wouldn't be inspired by these characters. Enough dawdling lets get to it

Deadpool, the Misunderstood Game Changer
This post came to me while I was riding in the car earlier, Now that Deadpool is on it's way to becoming the second highest grossing comic book origin story ever I think it is time to look at the lessons that SHOULD be learned, vs the lessons that are probably going to be learned. I say this hoping that I am wrong, because with what we got out of Deadpool and how long it took for us to get it, as well as the colossal risks that were taken to get it to us I am extremely happy with the end results. 700 million dollars for what many thought was an unknown, niche, too small for the big screen character "stick that in your pipe and smoke it." The funny thing is, the reason why Deadpool was thought to be dead in the water and a bum character was the very reason why we were so ravenous for the character to get a stand alone movie: X-men Origins Wolverine. In casting Ryan Reynolds to play Wade Wilson Fox gave us everything we never knew we wanted. I mean it had been a running joke for a while(there is a famous comic panel where Deadpool says "I look like Ryan Reynolds crossed with a Sharpe'), as well as if you look at most of Ryan Reynolds roles he plays a charismatic, cocky, roguish imp, who has way to much fun with his fellow on screen participants and sometimes the audience and it was a match in heaven, and then Fox sewed Deadpoo... I'm sorry Barrackapool's mouth shut for the final giant fight scene.
Seriously, talk about tone deaf. Fox decided that the best way to give comic book fans the MERC WITH THE MOUTH was without his free wheeling swords, or his guns, or his FREAKING MOUTH, walk with me here kiddies. Deadpool is known to run verbal harassment circles around his victims, enemies, fellow combatants, and the fourth wall so in a stroke of GENIUS Fox studios decided that not only did we NOT want the costume, but we didn't want to hear Deadpool talk either.

Why Amazing Spider-man 2 failed
Talking to my friend BeLauriette earlier about all this amazingly painful "BvS Rants" that we stumbled upon yesterday got us to talking about comic book movies, reboots, and the myriad reasons why people think some of these movies succeeded or failed. And in the conversation we got to one of my favorite comic book characters Spider-man and the back story of how Spider-man went from just Spidey, to being Amazing. Let's be clear, I actually liked Amazing Spider-man 2. They got the characterizations of almost everyone used perfect, but it failed and it forced Sony to turn make a deal with Marvel to share the web head's rights but for a movie franchise that has made so many billions of dollars I think we all agree that Sony was forced into that decision. The question is why. And the answer is quite simple, impatience.
Spider-man 3 came out, and it was going to be Sam Raimi's last movie with the Spider-man cast. He had a good run, had a multi billion dollar franchise under his belt and COULD have rode off into the sunset not unlike Christopher Nolan when Dark Knight Rises rolled the closing credits. The problem is Raimi didn't want to leave, Spider-man was his baby and he wanted to stay on board. So he did the most petty thing in movie history, he killed off not only a good future villain, but the next potential franchise inn the same movie. I am a Spider-man fan with over 35+ years under my belt(yes I fully admit to owning Spidey PJ's and Underoos), I have seen MANY iterations of the wall crawler, his villains, and many art styles. I have seen him animated many different ways, Saw Tom Hammond don those awful tights, and even watched a few live performance versions of Spidey at the mall.

One of these Days they will just give us the movie and not the thing they feel we will sit through
For those who don't know I follow Kevin Smith, the other fat comic book and sci fi movie geek from Jersey(he's just famous), and today he just tweeted out this kinda cool deleted scene from Batman v Superman that shows some mother boxes EARLIER in the movie. Which if you read either of my posts(here or wordpress) you would see that I have a problem with the kinda jerky way that BvS set up the story. Honestly I would have sat through a 3 hour movie if it gave me the full story. I am going to be extremely pissed off if I buy the directors cut and realize "oh crap this was actually an awesome movie, they just cut the 30 minutes worth of scenes that tied EVERYTHING TOGETHER." In this deleted scene I see some weird creature, Lex Luthor Jr. and what APPEAR to be motherboxes, which you know what in the right context could explain SOME of why Lex appeared so herky jerky.
Like I said in my review, the action scenes are awesome it just never makes sense on how we get there. I'm starting to think there are so many small connecting roads that in an editors mind didn't seem like much but then again without them we are a whole 3 stores over. And I really do believe that there is an awesome movie in this mess somewhere, the execs just had it cut down to far because EVEN though this is the binge watching age where people sitting in front of their TV for more than 3 hours on a regular basis(including myself when I went on that 3 day Daredevil Binge).

"Tell me, Do you bleed?"
This is about the Dark Knightest line we got all movie, Batman v Superman had a lot of action when it was crunch time, the story just didn't hold up for it. My main issue with Batman v Superman is that a lot of the things I THOUGHT would be motivation for not only our Iconic fight, but also the cause for our heroes to search for each other and unite pretty much fell flat. Ben Affleck was an awesome Batman(yes, I could be smug and link you to it instead I'll just add the correct label), and I will admit that while I still think she is a little light for my Warrior Queen Gail Gadot did deliver the action when it was fight time. It was many years in the making, and yes there is still that good old wordpress rant but Batman v Superman is here.
I will try not to give that many major spoilers which as I said in the post before is really the only reason people don't understand how lazy a lot of the writing and directing was, but some things just can't be ignored so if feel I have ruined parts of the movie for you there is a comments section fire away.

Who ya gonna call, now
The new Ghostbusters trailer has officially dropped here's the link. So obviously the question is, what do I think. It looks like it will be funny, but it kind of looks like a parody instead of a full on reboot. Like silly things happened in the original Ghostbusters movie, but they took capturing paranormal phenomenon seriously. If I'm gonna to be honest, two skinny white women, one chubby white woman and a black chick okay yes it looks like the gender bent ghostbusters. Since none of the names are the same I am a little disappointed that they aren't the daughters of the originals, a passing of the torch would have been nice. Even some sort of tortured legacy(see what I did there, oh come on Ghosts, tortured legacy, whatever it's funny) that the only pick up because the city is in danger would have been a nice romp. Doesn't mean it won't be good, just means its not the sequel/reboot I was hoping for so far.
Now I'm not naive, I know that most of the more recent reboots focused less on being serious and more on making fun of the source material. And the last movie to try and seriously recreate the original(Man from U.N.C.L.E) had lukewarm success at best, I don't think it was because the source material is bad. I think it was because you needed to make it more in line with the times, actually upgrade and modernize the characters, if people wanted to watch the original that's what netflix, amazon prime, hulu, and a million other streaming services are for. What they can't do is pull a Bourne Identity out of their butts easily, the director of the Bourne Identity was brilliant, we were once again hearing tell of shadow government programs of rendition, black ops programs, and possible brain washing. So instead of rehashing a cold war story and putting it on the screen verbatim they tweaked it a little. Even the A-team movie(which I feel should have gotten a sequel) gave you the team, a few of the old cast members, and a story that was believable if a little over the top(which for the A-team is par for the course).
Can these ladies handle their proton packs, maybe and honestly I hope so at first blush it isn't terrible but as a fan of the original I really wanted them to go ahead and admit:This has happened before, things kept going on, but now we have some new blood in the game. The actresses involved(that I know) have been pretty good in past movies, and they might even have good chemistry onscreen(which the original cast had in spades, granted they had worked together in who knows how many movies), but can they be good in this role, treat it with a level of respect AND make us laugh at the same time. I mean they started off with a sliming, and the "every crack" joke was decent(wasn't out of the park, maybe a swallowing joke or a ectoplasmic pregnancy test joke SOMETHING, you got ghost splooged run with it), and it was awesome to see Slimer again.
I plan to see this movie, I want this movie to be good, I want more Ghostbuster movies. They were fun, they were silly, and they were something you and your parents could enjoy without one of the other having to spend half the ride home explaining "what were they talking about" I want to scream GHOSTBUSTERS when Ray Parker Jr. comes on, but at least with this first trailer you don't have me completely sold. My interest is still piqued, but I'm not checking fandango yet for ticket preorders

Everything wrong with "Green Lantern"
It all starts with an oath, an announcement of a calling, a drive, a determination. Their power is will, and with this they proclaim it's power, is unwavering discipline, and the brotherhood of which they have sworn their allegance.
In brightest day in blackest night No evil shall escape my sight.Let those who worship evil's might Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!!!They are the core, the Green Lantern core warriors who defend the 3600 sectors of the known(or at least considered under the jurisdiction of The Guardians of Oa) Universe. Now the name of this blog is "everything wrong with" and it was hinted at in my "We are the Core" throwback blog that was lost to some weird technological fluke. The sad part about Green Lantern is that the movie would have been just fine if somebody didn't decide the rush in the last 30 minutes. This movie was like a tall show cake or a sugar sculpture, it took its time, it had a vision, and it was trying to come on down to the presentation.... And somebody got antsy. I will cover a lot of what was right or at least serviceable first, while I haven't seen the movie in years the problems that it had still haunt me to this day. Because I really wanted this movie to work, even though this movie was delaying my ability to get a Deadpool movie(which, have you seen it DUDE when you get it right you get it right) it had the right actor, it had the potential to open up DC's movie universe to include other characters that Superman and Batman(which is sorely needed) and it would give more people a look into a pretty cool comic book character, and then the last 30 minutes happened. So lets get on in to it
