A tale of two sides of the street

Trucks are gone and yes more houses in my immediate neighborhood have power but my block nope. There are houses on both sides of the street. If you notice in one its the stop sign at the corner how many times have I taken that picture. As more houses have light than did last night MLGW has been busy, but the "Saturday initial estimate" is almost like a set in stone ultimatum.

Can I hope sure, could prayers help I don't know a single person without power who would turn them back, you never see how vulnerable our electronic worl is until times like this. Then you wonder why weren't we more interested in solar, why haven't we demanded that all power lines be buried not just the new ones. And please don't be the douche who says" but the cost", your rates will be jacked up regardless. Somebody charging you more for the exact same thing, giving you less service, and claiming cost increases is as built into capitalism as it is to complain about profits when you earn a 6 or 7 figure salary even though the company is failing.

Last time I checked if I didn't do my chores right Dad didn't give me my allowance he made me go back and redo it right and THEN he gave me my allowance. Because then I had earned it, and if cut corners and got caught later, I got punished and STILL had to redo it until I got it right. So please rate hikes are going to happen regardless to if the bury everybodies lines. So yeah I know the okie doke, and you throw the punch at the body because while the head is easy to move the body is a much bigger target.

I mean I am glad for the folks who got power back today, and as they kept working til after 8 pm there is hope and a chance that MAYBE tomorrow I will be watching Smallville(fingers crossed). Yeah don't ask me why I am wasting battery lamenting this, but I am. I guess even though I can't interact with my readers and blog followers that this, just able to say whatever is on my mind and post it(raw or not) is comforting to me now. And comfort is at a premium when you have no power and it looks this dark and desolate.

No Power Day 2

Well first this morning I got an update:power will not be restored until saturday at the earliest. This being thursday of course I'm in an extremely cheerful mood. So that means 2 more days of cold showers MINIMUM, no html updates for my blog(doing them in these phone editors is a big no no), no checking to see how many folks visited, no watching my favorite animes, nor my favorite pornos(or soon to be favorite *wink wink* *nudge nudge*), no easily charging my phones, keeping up with my favorite shows(which I usually catch on the net anyway). I think I'm gonna let a friend start critiqueing my blog. I respect her enough that while im sure the number of "red marks" I get will be vast it will be out of love not grammar naziness.

I know I haven't done the "weight loss journey" blogs like I was supposed to do and now without the lights its hard to keep up with my workouts. If I can't see how can I make sure 1. The band isn't breaking 2. I'm hitting the right angle 3. I have enough room. I may try it anyway tonight two days break is enough. And my diet sucks now can't cook because we have an electric stove, so its all fast food.

Another thing to add to my list of things I need to get: a notepad, a sketchpad, pencils, pens, and either colored pencils or pens. I told a friend I would start drawing and trying to write again and I am going to do that. I must fight my procrastination streak likes its the plague.

What can I say this week and the loss of my access to. Y digital lifestyle is lighting a fire under my behind. There will be a movie blog this week, my boss will be pissed but saturday is gonna have a cut off time. As for my personal life, well its rocky, you want to know ask, simply put I ramble on but personal matters I can just blast for hours so I prefer to make that precision not scattershot.

The Reason for the extended power outage was a power pole snapping and then a tree falling across other lines. Needless to say I could really do a blog the differences between blackberry's and this motorola backflip now battery life is a sore spot right now the Crackberry burns strong, the android not so much. Great features just lousy battery life for now.

That's a future blog though, stone age status has me trying to put it all in my blog in this one shot, and of course I have to publish them all raw, yeah loving that right now. Anyway for those stopping by thanks, for my fellow Memphians still without power I hope MLGW remembers this come bill time(and the lack of national news coverage is annoying)

The morning after

You've seen me post pictures of the surrounding area around my house before. Its a normal neighborhood, just people who live in close proximity to each other going about their daily lives. As happens from time to time rain falls and slightly messes up the scenery. Well last night there was nothing slightly about it

About 10:15 the storm hit, hit hard and fast at first the lights just flickered off momentarily, which has happened before hell in my previous weeks blog(the one where I have all the rain pictures) I told you about the mini blackout that I missed. This time I didn't miss anything first there was the flash of light and then there was the boom the knocked all the lights out. It seems that during the commotion a power pole and powerline were both snapped. A transformer must have blow somewhere too because too many spots have no lights for it to be a single line doing all this damage. I would like to think that in our modern age we don't have all our eggs in one basket like that.

Its kind of funny I had a late night anyway due to a failing hard drive in byhalia and had only been home for a good 20 minutes before the power went out. Now understand I am an admitted digital junky, I have these two phones, I have a desktop, when I surf I tend to have at minimum 5 windows up at all times and said 5 window always have at least 2 tabs open on them. So while yes I do eventually sleep I am the king of digital overload

I had plans to do lots of stuff on facebook, possibly finish up a few blogs, tumblr a few things, watch the latest smallville episode that I missed, watch bleach(latest episode would have been posted this morning) and prepare for a normal workday. Now I'm stuck trying to charge my phones using car charges and watch the daylight vanish to return me to darkness. Which being the gremlin that I am, I love the darkness, I just don't love the quiet, I have become partial to the humms, buzzes, shifting and settling of our digital companions. It used to be the street noises, but I have long since gotten over my dependance on them for a good nights sleep.

At least in this iteration the blackberry bold whoops the motorola backflip when it comes to battery life, at like 75% with me talking on it for hours last night and texting for hours today the blackberry didn't run out of juice for over 12 hours. Sitting there with me just deleting a few items off of it the backflip barely lasted 3. Battery life has always been my issue with this phone, I love the features and the abilities im trying to figure out why its been so glitchy since the firmware update, but for the most part it had always been serviceable save battery life. And never had its lack of battery life been so apparent as it was last night.

I've loaded my android with a handy flashlight app(that came in very handy during the storms aftermath), and it has a little battery life digital indicator on it as it quickly ticked down last night it reminded my how dependant we have become on our digital devices. Mainly because they keep gettint lost I don't have a "normal" flashlight in the sense of that big battery operated single beam of

Well I'll be gosh darned after already being washed back into the stone age what is this I hear above my head? Why its the patter of more ran drops, if anybody says the universe doesn't have a sense of humor I wish to point you to this day. As I have no desktop I will post this "raw" now and adjust the photos and add any html linkage that I feel appropriate when power is restored.

Running, running, running

Hello my dear readers I know I still have yet to do the "Hanna" blog it has been a hectic week. I will do it tonight(possibly on this car trip since I'm gonna miss Smallville), I've had to deal with a hack attempt on my computer(which failed mostly, they fried my safe mode I haven't had time to find the registry prompts yet to repair it), had a few late nights, still haven't gotten over my Collergy, but I did find my backflip(it was in the damn front yard).

I've been rained on a few times this week, I've read a few blog entries by others, I have mildly been getting my tumble on. I have gone back to my sporadic Tweeting(and killed my cousins car charger). I am pondering giving Ero his own section of the ponderings, I want to nurture my baby brothers wit and curiosity. He'll just have to obey the rules if he wants to do it. Posting only,(means I'll have to start editing for real) its still my blog he wants to do it, likes it and wants full control he'll have to start his own blog.

This is a revenge thriller about 3 people who track down some monster german doctor, to make him pay for some past crimes. I've seen this trailer before but this time it was a little cut off so the details are fuzzy to me right now. 2 men and 1 woman are having a flashback moment about some fateful day with the kidnapped the monster to stand trial in the outside world. And something went horribly wrong.

Warrior

Warrior is the story of two brothers on a collision course in a mixed martial arts tournament. One is a return fighter turned school teacher, bills are piling up and the big score promised for winning this fight will help him bring solvency to his family. The other is a soldier recently returned home from war a hero in need of direction. The relationship between brothers and father was dysfunctional at best and it seems the stars are gonna give them a chance to settle it old school style. Brother against brother, muscle against muscle, wisdom against youth. Kinda feel like this is me and Lank sometimes because we have about that age difference.

The trailer was kind of chaotic and it looks like a wild ride.

Fast 5

Yup two weeks in a row for the adrenaline rush flick. The street racers are in Brazil going for a 100 million dollar score and the only thing between them and the open road is The ROCK. Fast cars, Hot babes, over the top action yeah this is definitely a Fast movie

For those of us who grew up with that fond, PBS offering of people interacting with life size puppers(muppets actually I forget where Jim Henson got the name muppet from but we all know what they are) the show always began with the sing song

"Sunny day, sweeping the clouds away, on my way to where the air is sweet, can you tell me how to get, how to get to sesame street"

Well as the pictures show the clouds decided to come back with:friends, ammunition, back up, all




terrain vehicles, extra clips and pets. The skies opened up yesterday and decided "Memphis!! You need an external enema". It went from kinda cloudy, to drizzly, to GREAT FLOOD, to super soaker, to water gun, to dollar store squirt pistol. That rainstorm was so schizophrenic that while it did get my cloth timberland jacket and the bottom of my pants soaked(it seems it also took a few lives and knocked out the power) my day was more inconvenienced by people not answering their phones during the day than I was the water.
Lank(my little brother he's filled out since his younger long and lanky days, but its still one of his nick names) informed me that I missed the mini black out(to which I showed him that picture in traffic where you could barely see the car in front of you), I told him about all the terrified people in Walmart. I'm not claiming to be a "Tornado whisperer" but I've noticed if the rain is coming down hard and heavy your okay. When you just get the sound and the thunder and the rain seems to slow up artificially, worry.

Now this is not to say I was uninconvenienced by the rain, our internet appeared jacked for most of the night. Thus why this blog is being finished today, not last night.
