Here we go Again

It's another movie night, I am about to head to the theater to watch HOPEFULLY Resident Evil, the final chapter. Resident Evil is a special little conundrum it is based on a video game(mostly) and yet the type of video game it is based on is based on Zombie survival horror which is of course a type of movie. I have often said one of the reasons that RE hasn't been as lackluster as other video game movies is because Zombie Horror is something people know how to do, yes you have to add in crazy looking enemies, mutated dogs, and weird horse/bull looking things but it's still the undead chasing living people around who just want to make it to another day. They have used various characters from the game Ada Wong, Chris Redman, the Nemesis, Wesker, and of course Alice. It plays well because you get to see your favorite characters damn near die or die (depending on who you liked in the movie) but at least go out in a blaze of glory.

They have waded their way through 5 movies(not unlike Underworld) and have decided to let their crew go out in a blaze of glory in one final mega battle. This doesn't mean they can't do another Resident Evil movie later, but they retired Alice around 5 in the games I think, had Chris in more of them as well as showed random other characters. So while you may lose your T-virus power Super Zombie killer you can still have folks who are pretty good at fighting off Zombies and getting to the end versus whoever the Big Boss is.

The Premise for Final Chapter appears to be that the folks at the Umbrella Corp building under Raccoon City have an aerial way to fight the T virus but of course being the greedy corporate suck heads that they are, they refuse to release it to save humanity. Nope they would rather let the whole world die, protect themselves and live under whatever is left of the Raccoon city facility(that I swear gets blown up EVERY OTHER MOVIE but I digress), Wesker is of course once again in his Chaotic Neutral role, is he a good guy no, is he a bad guy mostly, but he has also helped to protect some remnants of humanity(that he deems useful) at various times. The last movie found him holed up in the white house after sending the crew to save Alice from an underground Russian facility(which included the return of Michele Rodriguez's character Rain Ocampo) where they had her trapped in computer simulations of various ways she could die(with a bunch of ready made clones for when everyone died in a simulation) and had her believing she had a normal life and the events of 1-4 had never happened.

Supposedly Wesker injected Alice with the T-virus again to give her all of her abilities back at the end of retribution so we will see whether or not she uses them again in the finale. It looked like in Resident Evil 3 that if Alice died she wanted to die a normal human being, the world of course needs a Super Powered hero. If she does get her various TK powers back I hope we see her use them on a slew of zombies, and hopefully they have cleaned up the bloody nose thing. Many folks my love Mila Jovovich as Lelu Dallas and this is another awesome role she has brought to life. I am sorry to see the movies go(because I don't know how long we are going to have to wait for another good video game movie) and yet I am happy that the movie is getting what is hopefully a proper send off. When I get Back I will do the trailers blog but for now those enjoying the superbowl have fun,

For me it's time to see some Zombies go splat
