Look I'm probably botching the hell out of that line, but with the amount of money Fast Five made this weekend I believe it is safe to say Vin Diesel and crew definitely packed theirs.
Fast Five starts out where "Fast and Furious" ends(you know I wish they would leave the sites for the old movies up, just for us folks who MIGHT want to link to them, just saying) Dominic Toretta is in a court room about to be sentenced to 25 years in jail. though Brian O'connor has spoken up for him and Toretta has helped to bring down a heroin king pin his favorite judge can't wait to throw the book at him. Behind the bus taking Toretta to prison pulls up 3 cars, one driven by his sister Mia, one driven by O'connor, I forget who was driving the 3rd car after pulling a bus escape that would make Reggie Hammond have a flashback they escape from LA and we see Mia and Brian pull up in the 70's Charger in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
The Favela may look familiar, it looks just like the one from The Incredible Hulk, Mia and Brian have come to call on Vince(yes the same Vince from the first movie) who invites Mia and "the Buster" into his home to meet his son and wife. After a meal Vince offers them in on a job, the job steal 3 cars(a Pantera, a GT40, and a Corvette grand sport)from a high speed training running through Brazil. Now the way they plan to steal the cars is pretty impressive, first after copying the conductors key card Brian and Mia are to sneak into the Cargo Car, after informing their co-conspirators of exactly which car to pull up next to, they destroy the glass holding the keys. Brian makes a comment about the markings on the keys and you see an interesting flat bed truck pull up next to the train. Part of the flat beds occupants grab plasma cutters and cut off the side of the train car. When the side rips off there stands Dom and Vince. Vince grabs the first car(the pantera), is whipped onto the flat bed by a hook and pulley set up, and drives off with the first car, after a mild argument Mia gets into the second car(the GT40) and after a word from Dom pulls off in a seperate direction, which causes an argument between the Jobs handler and Dom, a fight ensues where the flat bed slams into the train. That detail Brian had noticed earlier the keys said DEA on them, which means they were stealing federal seizures and of course the feds are on their way. While Brian fights the men on the flatbed for control of the vehicle Dom fights with the local heavy's second in command. After Dom knocks him against the wall he hops into the car (the Corvette Grand Sport)and starts it up just as the DEA agents get into the cargo car and train their guns on him and say "freeze", well unfortunately the second in command decides to shoot all 3 agents as Dom jumps out of the train car. While all this was going on Brian found a way to help the driver of the flatbed slam into the train. So Brian is stuck into the side of the train, on a flat bed that is about to blow up oh and did I mention they were coming up on a bridge. Dom pulls up alongside just in time for Brian to jump on the back and both of them to jump into the river waiting below.
Unfortunately when they come up for air the local heavy(a man named Reyes) has men already waiting for them. The problem is that it seems the GT40 Mia rode off in is very important to Reyes, and he wants it back. With Dom and Brian hung by chains in some remote garage somewhere Reyes makes a few threats tells them there is nowhere Mia can hide, gives the head nod and walks off expecting Dom and Brian to be stains in the morning. After a hard fought escape from impending doom, they find Mia at a pre determined garage where they take apart the car. Vince shows up midway through this pretends to be friends and when it appears no one is looking he goes to the car to find a chip in the radio, Dom is there to catch him and kicks him out of the garage. Upon further investigation of the chip they discover a map and information of every safe house Reyes operates for his money. In total over 100 million dollars stored around the Favela. As they make this discovery Reyes' men find the garage and come in shooting. Thing is Reyes isn't the only one looking for our street racers, remember those 3 feds that got killed well it seems when the feds want an illusive target Brought down they call in one man Hobbs, Hobbs had arrived in Brazil not long after the train robbery to investigate the theft and the homicides. As a matter of fact the title of this blog comes from one of his lines.
Hobbs has also tracked the Torettas and O'Connor to the favela where the garage is and as the gunfire starts he begins his hunt for his quarry. as Dom tries to escape high Mia and Brian are running "low"(basically they are on roof tops just not as high up as Dom) it seems Hobbs is damn good because as Dom jumps and rolls off a roof behind him through a window on the same roof comes Hobbs as they go to face off, gunfire erupts from Reyes' men. So they run off and Dom bumps into a local Officer (Elena), more gunfire and all the sudden the Funderwear bunch pops up to lay down the local thugs. Dom gets away, they meet up in a sewer and as Dom and Brian try to discuss a way to split up and meet up later Mia drops a bomb on the group. She's pregnant now all the sudden there is no more running apart Dom isn't gonna leave his sister and Brian isn't going to leave the mother of his child, which means now they need a way to be able to stop running and live.
So they're putting a team together. The specifications for the team: A fast talker who can smooth talk his way in or out of anything, that would be Brian's old Juvey buddy Roman from 2 fast 2 furious; they need somebody good with circuits, enter Tej they guy who ran all the races down in miami also from 2 fast 2 furious; they need somebody good with weapons, enter Gisele an old friend of Doms who used to be armed forces; they need a chameleon somebody who can blend in anywhere, enter Han their old racing buddy from the first movie(and the guy who ends up pushing up daisies in tokyo drift); they need somebody good with explosives and rigging, enter Leo and Santos. They also need 2 precision drivers, then again Dom and Brian have been standing there the whole time. They have their team together the plan, steal 100 million dollars from Reyes and split it evenly, avoid getting captured by Hobbs and leave Brazil free men and women to live their lives where they want, how they want.
Now being that this is a "Fast and the Furious" movie of course it is about the cars, and there are plenty to be seen(I got my info for exactly which cars were in the movie from Screen Rant, because I may like cars but I'm not that big of a "oooh I can name every car I see" guy) Nissans, Chevy's, a Ford Maverick(that was my first car), a Subaru, a Toyota, and some trucks and a big Gurkha LAPV for Hobbs. You don't see as much racing as was in previous movies you do see a lot of driving but the one Car for Car race was done off camera. There is a scene where Roman, Han, Brian and Dom race some stolen police Chargers but hit Screen Rant for the full list.
This is an adrenaline rush that is welcomed to help kick off the summer movie season, lots of explosions, hot women, action and unbelievable car stunts. Oh and after the credit race hang around, you will see an important easter egg for a possible Fast 6. I loved fast five you got the Rock, Vin Diesel, Ludacris, Paul Walker, Tyrese and the gang taking you along for an extremely enjoyable wild ride
This is my more mature blog. By mature I mean I'm going to follow some rules and I'm going to try and do more then take the easy way out. No cursing I gotta find a different way to say it and still emphatically get my point across
